Spanish authorities announced on Thursday that they have discovered the wallet of James “Jimmy” Gracey, a University of Alabama student who went missing, near a beach in Barcelona.
According to information provided by FOX News Digital, law enforcement officials reported that the wallet was found floating in the water close to Somorrostro Beach. This find came amidst ongoing searches of the area utilizing both aquatic teams and drones in an effort to locate the 20-year-old.
As previously covered by CrimeOnline, Gracey, who hails from Elmhurst, Illinois, disappeared on March 17 after spending an evening with friends at Shôko, a beachfront restaurant and nightclub located in the Port Olímpic area of Barcelona.

A friend said he saw Gracey at around 3 a.m. (local time). He reportedly had been talking to an American girl with brown hair before he vanished, according to what a source told FOX.
When he failed to return back to an Airbnb at Ronda de Sant Pere, his family reported him missing.
Police later found his stolen phone. A source told FOX that authorities found the phone following the “arrest of a third-party individual.”
It’s unclear if the person is connected to Gracey’s disappearance. Police have not publicly named any suspects.
Gracey took a personal spring break trip to the country to visit friends who study abroad. According to CNN, Gracey’s flight back home was scheduled for Saturday.
His father has since traveled to Spain to assist in the search.
“Jimmy is a kind, responsible, and devoted son and brother. It is completely out of character for him not to check in with family and friends,” a family statement read.
A friend told FOX that Gracey is the University of Alabama’s Theta Chi fraternity chaplain and philanthropy chairman.
Gracey is described as standing 6 foot, 1 inch tall and weighing around 175 pounds. He was last seen in dark pants, a white t-shirt, and a chain with a gold rhinestone cross.
