A courageous Walmart employee in Nebraska played a pivotal role in aiding a domestic violence victim to escape her perilous situation. The victim, a 47-year-old woman, alleged that her boyfriend had strangled her multiple times and confiscated her phone to hinder her from seeking help.
The Gage County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the woman had been attempting to flee from her boyfriend, Justis Barnhouse, for two days. Her aim was to return safely to her home in Kansas. The harrowing ordeal came to light when the couple visited a Walmart store last Tuesday afternoon.
Seizing a moment of opportunity, the victim discreetly caught the attention of a Walmart employee and beckoned them to follow her into the restroom. There, she recounted the terrifying incidents of strangulation, pleading for assistance.
Responding promptly, the employee dialed 911, setting in motion a rescue operation. Authorities soon located the woman, Barnhouse, and their camper at a nearby truck stop, merely half a mile from the store.
Following the intervention, Barnhouse was taken into custody. He now faces serious charges, including assault by strangulation and domestic assault, underscoring the gravity of his actions.
