What Amanda Seyfried Told Elizabeth Holmes: You Can See Everything

In You Can See Everything, Amanda Seyfried complimented Elizabeth Holmes on the “beautiful family” she shares with Billy Evans—while also admitting she had an unexpected reaction to the couple’s relationship.

After viewing an edited cut of the documentary, Seyfried told co-director Nathan Fielder that she wanted to “break them up,” a candid moment included in the film.

Directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the documentary centers on Holmes, Evans and their two children in the weeks before Holmes reported to federal prison to begin an 11-year sentence for defrauding investors in her former health-tech company. The film also explores the family’s new life in Texas while Holmes remains incarcerated.

Seyfried, who won an Emmy for portraying Holmes in Hulu’s 2022 limited series The Dropout, appears in multiple capacities throughout the project. She reenacts remarks Holmes made from prison and visits Evans at his California home, where she meets the couple’s two young children.

At one point, the actress also takes part in a prison phone call between Holmes and Evans before apologizing for interrupting their limited time together.

“I’m so sorry,” Seyfried tells Holmes during the call, according to the Los Angeles Times. “I don’t want to ruin your two minutes with your beautiful family.”

Her visit with Evans was not entirely warm, however. The Times reported that Seyfried eventually described him as “Bats–tcrazy” after tensions escalated between them.

The pair reportedly clashed over Evans’ use of Holmes’ verified X account while acting under power of attorney. According to the Times, Evans said that Holmes writes “80%” of the posts. He also told Vanity Fair, “I can literally do anything.”

Evans also criticized Seyfried’s portrayal of Holmes in The Dropout and said he intended to retaliate against people he believed had mistreated his wife, the Times reported.

“I’m going to ruin their lives,” Evans says in the documentary, according to the Times. “F—ing everyone. I’ve got vengeance in my heart.”

Representatives for Seyfried and Evans did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
