A woman arrested nearly a year ago for killing her newborn child and leaving the body in a airport bathroom in 2005 has been released from jail to await trial but placed on electronic monitoring.

Annie Anderson, 51, is charged with killing her infant daughter and leaving her body in a restroom trash can at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, as CrimeOnline reported. The case was unsolved until investigative genetic genealogy provided a maternal match for the little girl in 2021.

Anderson was extradited to Arizona from Washington state in April 2024. She is charged with first degree murder, abandoning or concealing a dead body, and child abuse, according to AZCentral.com, which said she was released from jail on December 12, Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez told the outlet on Saturday.

The baby — full term with the umbilical cord still attached — was found on October 10, 2005 and nicknamed “Baby Skylar” by investigators. Detectives believe she was born elsewhere and left at the airport since they found no blood or other indication the birth took place there.

After identifying Anderson, she reportedly admitted the infant was her child and that she was involved in her death.
