A disturbing incident unfolded in Pennsylvania, where authorities have accused a woman of attempting to ambush her husband in their garage with the intent to kill. The alleged perpetrator, Heather Crawford, aged 42, is now confronting a slew of serious charges. These include attempted criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person, according to Blair County court documents analyzed by Law&Crime. Her initial court appearance took place on Tuesday.

The chilling sequence of events reportedly began last Sunday at their residence on the 200 block of Woodlawn Avenue. An intense argument between Crawford and her husband escalated to the point where she allegedly aimed his Ruger handgun at him. Although the confrontation simmered down, she is said to have hidden the firearm afterwards, as detailed in a criminal complaint reviewed by the local publication, the Morrisons Cove Herald.

Yet the tension apparently lingered into the next day. On Monday, Crawford is accused of enticing her husband into the garage under the pretense of needing his assistance with something. Once he stepped inside, she allegedly blocked the exit and brandished the Ruger at him, holding it at waist level.

Fortunately, her husband seems to have realized the perilous situation and forced his way past Crawford to escape. As he made his way out, it is reported that Crawford fired at least two shots. One bullet penetrated the garage door, while another ripped through his jacket, damaging the zipper but, miraculously, leaving him unharmed.

However, the husband is said to have picked up on what was happening and managed to push past his wife and get out of the garage. As he did this, Crawford allegedly fired at least two shots — with one shooting through the garage door and another hitting her husband’s jacket, tearing the zipper.

Physically, he was unharmed, authorities said, and he contacted the Martinsburg Borough Police Department to tell officers that his wife tried to kill him. Crawford admitted to this, the complaint stated, per area CBS affiliate WTAJ.

When asked why she attempted to kill him, Crawford reportedly responded, “He was evil and had to die.”

Officers said they responded to the home and found the handgun, spent shell casings inside and outside the garage, and damage to the garage door.

Crawford was denied bail during her preliminary arraignment on Tuesday. She is set to reappear in court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 5.

Martinsburg is a borough in central Pennsylvania, located about 100 miles east of Pittsburgh.
