Authorities have charged 59-year-old Lisa Decaprio with arson and harassment following an incident on Neptune Avenue in Seaford, New York. The Nassau County Police Department stated that officers arrived at the scene around 8:14 p.m. on Friday after reports of a heated argument between Decaprio and a 63-year-old man. While the man’s identity and his relationship with Decaprio have not been disclosed, police confirmed that Decaprio allegedly threatened him, vowing to “burn the house down.”
The altercation reportedly grew more volatile when Decaprio began hurling objects at the man. The exact nature of their dispute remains unspecified. However, the situation escalated dramatically when Decaprio is said to have set a pillow ablaze, heightening the threat to set fire to the residence.
Details regarding who contacted emergency services have not been released.
It was not specified who called 911.
Police said the fire was extinguished by the time first responders arrived at the home. The man was unharmed. Decaprio was arrested without incident the same day and taken to a hospital for evaluation before she was brought to jail. She was charged with arson and harassment.
At her arraignment at Nassau County District Court on Saturday, Decaprio was granted $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 secured bond, or $50,000 partially secured surety bond. It was not clear if she was still in custody. She pleaded not guilty to both charges and is due to appear in court again on April 14.
