Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have apprehended Zoe Suzan Wiencek, a 45-year-old resident of Sarasota County, following an incident at a local convenience store that escalated into an altercation with law enforcement. Wiencek is accused of causing a scene, providing a false identity to a sheriff’s deputy, and subsequently spitting at the deputy.

The situation unfolded around 1:10 p.m. on November 22 at the Circle K located on 9303 NW 93rd Avenue. Deputies responded to a call reporting that a woman was creating a disturbance by yelling at a customer and attempting to grab a child. Witnesses also claimed the woman had engaged in indecent exposure by pulling down her pants and exposing herself.

Upon arrival, the deputy found a woman matching the description given by witnesses. When questioned, she identified herself as “Jessie Lee” with a birth date in 1979. However, a quick check revealed no records matching that name and date of birth.

While conversing with the deputy, the woman was observed drinking from an open can of beer on a public sidewalk, contravening Alachua County’s open container ordinance. This additional infraction added to the list of charges she faces as the investigation continues.

The deputy arrested the woman for the open container violation and providing false identification information to a law enforcement officer.

In the patrol car, the woman reportedly complained that the handcuffs were too tight; when a deputy checked the handcuffs, the woman allegedly tried to spit on the deputy and said, “Enjoy the AIDS.”

At the jail, the woman was identified as Wiencek, with a date of birth in 1980.

Wiencek, whose address is listed as General Delivery in Sarasota County, has been charged with violating the County’s open container ordinance, providing false identification information to a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, and assaulting a law enforcement officer. Her full criminal history is unavailable, but she has arrests in Hernando and Manatee counties. Judge Robert Groeb set bail at $60,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
