Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jessica Marie Parker, 33, was arrested yesterday after spitting on and kicking police officers who asked her to leave UF Health Shands, where she was reportedly doing her laundry despite being trespassed from the hospital.

At about 3:20 p.m. on September 14, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to a report that Parker was doing her laundry at UF Health Shands Hospital (1515 SW Archer Road). Parker was previously trespassed from the hospital in January 2025 and was arrested on that date when she refused to leave the property.

The arresting officer reported that Parker initially refused to identify herself but said she had recently been a patient at the hospital. Hospital security staff told the officer that she had been released from the hospital two days before the incident and had no medical reason to be at the hospital.

When officers approached her to place her under arrest, Parker allegedly spat on one officer, struggled briefly while being handcuffed, and kicked another officer while she was being placed in a patrol vehicle. As the first officer made sure Parker’s legs were inside the vehicle so he could close the door, she allegedly spat on him a second time, directly in his face.

Parker, whose address is listed as St. Francis House, has been charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and trespassing after a warning. She has two felony convictions (non-violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (one violent); she has served one state prison term and was released in 2013. She is facing a sworn complaint for shoplifting a box of tampons. She was last arrested in January for trespassing after a warning at UF Health Shands; after entering a plea of nolo contendere in March, she was fined $326, which she has not paid. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $20,500.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
