Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Regina Renee Garrison, 48, was arrested yesterday morning and charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing and throwing a knife at her boyfriend.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy interviewed the victim at the UF Health Shands Emergency Room, and he reportedly said Garrison had become angry because he was supposed to watch an 11-year-old child while she was at work overnight and he went out instead, leaving the child alone. The victim said that when Garrison got home from work in the morning, she threw something sharp at him while he was running from her, causing a slash on his calf. During the same argument, she allegedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife. The victim said he never hit or harmed Garrison.

Post Miranda, Garrison reportedly confirmed that she was upset after learning that the victim had left the child alone. She reportedly admitted throwing something (which she believed to be a kitchen knife) at the victim, cutting his calf, and she admitted chasing and stabbing the victim with a different kitchen knife.

The deputy reported that Garrison later walked him through her home in the 4400 block of E. University Avenue and explained that she was chasing the victim in a circle and he outran her, ending up behind her. She reportedly said she had picked up numerous items while chasing the victim, including a knife, and she was frightened that the victim was behind her, so she “poked” him with the knife. She reportedly confirmed that the “poke” was a stabbing motion that resulted in the victim’s shoulder wound.

Based on that interview, the deputy also reported that Garrison threw a knife at the victim and then chased him before stabbing him. When asked whether the victim had threatened or harmed her, she reportedly said he did not.

The child reportedly confirmed the accounts of both Garrison and the victim.

Garrison has one felony conviction (non-violent) and one misdemeanor conviction (non-violent). Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $30,000, but the State Attorney’s office has filed notice that it intends to ask a judge to hold her without bail until trial.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
