Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ebony Nicole Herron, 38, has been charged with threatening to shoot a Gardenia Gardens resident with an “AR-style” firearm in December 2023.
A Gainesville Police Department detective reported that at 7:40 p.m. on December 4, 2023, two women were arguing at Gardenia Gardens when Herron intervened and started arguing with one of the women. The victim told the detective she walked over to make sure the incident did not escalate and was confronted by Herron. She said Herron went inside her apartment, came out with an “AR-style” firearm, and pointed it at her, saying, “Shut your [epithet] up. I will shoot you!” The victim said she and the witness left and called law enforcement.
The victim and witness said they knew Herron because she worked at Gardenia Gardens, doing maintenance, and they later pointed her out to the detective as she drove by on a golf cart.
At the time of the incident, Herron was facing a sworn complaint for domestic battery, but those charges were dropped in early 2024.
A warrant for Herron’s arrest was issued on April 30, 2025, and she was arrested at her residence on May 21.
Herron has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has two felony convictions (non-violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (non-violent). Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail at $50,000.
