GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Liana Monique Dupree, 47, was arrested yesterday and charged with felony property damage for allegedly hitting a romantic rival’s car with a sledgehammer in July 2023.
On July 28, 2023, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about property damage at Pinewood I apartments (4400 NW 39th Avenue). The deputy reported that the leaseholder on the apartment had been “balancing a relationship between two women,” Dupree and the victim, which caused “animosity” between them.
The deputy reported that Dupree arrived at the apartment and began causing a disturbance by “excessively” knocking on the front door and banging on the windows. The leaseholder opened the door and Dupree saw the victim inside the apartment. Dupree allegedly took a sledgehammer from the bed of the leaseholder’s truck and yelled, “I’m going to break your window” before hitting the trunk of the victim’s vehicle with the sledgehammer, causing a large dent.
The deputy reported that a neighbor saw Dupree hit the vehicle with the sledgehammer.
A warrant for Dupree’s arrest was issued in September 2023.
Dupree has been charged with property damage over $200 with a previous property damage conviction, a felony. She has one felony conviction and 17 misdemeanor convictions, including three convictions for property damage in Duval County. Judge James Colaw set bail at $10,000.
