A Minnesota woman allegedly led Wisconsin State Patrol troopers on a high-speed pursuit that left one trooper seriously injured.
Martell Tolbert Mitchell, 47, faces charges of fleeing or eluding an officer and recklessly endangering safety following Monday’s chase. According to a criminal complaint obtained by local ABC affiliate WQOW, Illinois State Police alerted Wisconsin authorities that a driver—later identified as Tolbert Mitchell—had allegedly fled a traffic stop. Troopers later spotted her vehicle in Eau Claire County and attempted to pull her over again.
Instead of stopping, Tolbert Mitchell allegedly accelerated to more than 100 mph, with the pursuit eventually reaching speeds of about 125 mph.
Tolbert Mitchell has not been charged in connection with Trooper Brad Ritger’s injuries. Along with the fleeing and reckless-endangerment charges, she is accused of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute and possessing THC with intent to distribute. Her name did not appear on the Dunn County Jail inmate roster posted Thursday.
Tolbert Mitchell’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 28.
