On Sunday, authorities in California arrested a 22-year-old mother following a report from her child’s grandmother, who noticed bruises on her toddler grandson.
According to a statement from the Barstow Police Department, the grandmother discovered the injuries after taking custody of the 2-year-old during a scheduled exchange with his mother, identified as Lillian Roxanne Nunez-Arvizu. Concerned by the bruising, she immediately contacted the police. Initial attempts to locate Nunez-Arvizu were unsuccessful.
Subsequently, detectives took over the case, verifying the child’s injuries and ensuring his safety by placing him with his father. They managed to find and interview Nunez-Arvizu and also collected further evidence related to the incident.
Nunez-Arvizu now faces charges of felony child endangerment and is currently held at the High Desert Detention Center in San Bernardino County.
