Rebecca Ferguson has revealed she was in talks to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

The X Factor star appears to have been snubed by her native country and could instead represent other countries after she ‘received offers’.

The Liverpudlian singer, 38, who burst into the spotlight in 2010 with four top 10 albums, hinted to her followers that should could take to the stage in Basel Switzerland in May 2025.

During a like Q&A on TikTok, a fan asked Rebecca: ‘Are you representing the UK at Eurovision?’

To which she replied: ‘Well, I’ve got something to tell you… Do you know what? No one’s messaged me… and I… no one’s messaged me to do it, erm, but what’s really interesting is I’ve had other offers from other countries to do Eurovision.

‘And what they’ve said is, ‘You can’t do it on your own, but you can do it as a duet.’

‘So, it’s a weird one for me because I’ve been offered Eurovision by other countries to sing with their artist. But then I’m patriotic to my own country.

‘But then at the same time, I’m like, ‘Well, my own country hasn’t asked me.’

‘So, yeah… I’ve had offers to do Eurovision, but not for the UK. Which is sad if I end up doing it with another country.’

And her honest response sparked a frenzy of excitement from fans – with one stating: ‘That’s mad regarding Eurovision!’

‘I’ll sing it with you, whatever it is.’

The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest is due to take place at the St. Jakobshalle arena in Basel, Switzerland, in May 2025.

The grand finale of the contest will take place on Saturday 17 May.

The act and song representing the United Kingdom will be publicly announced before the European Broadcasting Union’s deadline in March 2025.

It comes after Rebecca revealed that she didn’t feel ‘physically’ ready to perform at Eurovision in 2023 so soon after giving birth, but was determined not to pass up on the opportunity.

The songstress – who welcomed her fourth child in February 2023- took to the stage in Liverpool at the first semi final and gave a stunning rendition of ‘Welcome To Our House’ to adoring crowds.

But speaking to MailOnline at the time, Rebecca confessed that she felt dubious about getting back on stage just three months after welcoming her little one – whose name and gender have not been revealed.

She said: ‘Physically I was not feeling ready. I’ve just had a baby, I’ve not been on a diet. In fact, I can’t diet because I’m breastfeeding.

‘I wouldn’t normally have done it. I had to ask myself, ”am I physically ready?” but then I thought: ”actually, I’m a mum, I’m breastfeeding and I can do it!”.’

‘I’m really conscious of how short life is, especially as I’m getting older. I’m very aware now of how precious life is and how much time we waste on worrying and regret.

‘Giving birth is a risk for women. We worry about nonsense – and I know this was an amazing opportunity.’

She also rehearsed for Eurovision while breastfeeding, explaining: ‘Normally I’m critical of myself but I practised so much – breastfeeding, singing, breastfeeding, singing – that was my preparation.

‘I rehearsed a lot. I recorded myself and played it back time and time again – a lot of thought went into how I was going to sing it for Eurovision. When I came off stage I knew I’d done my best.’

‘I was tired, though. I was breastfeeding the baby in-between rehearsals and interviews. Hormonally when I had to be away from my little one, I was like ”where is my baby?”

‘But I had an awareness of how many people were watching me perform, and I was also really conscious that I needed to deliver a great performance.’

Rebecca told MailOnline how she worked with a stylist to help her feel confident on stage, explaining: ‘I usually pick out my own outfits for performances but because my body’s changed with having another baby, I got a stylist called Emily Evans.

‘She came around with loads of dresses and the orange one was in this huge box. When she pulled it out and I put it on, I wasn’t sure at first but then I was like:

‘Actually, this is the perfect Eurovision dress, it’s a bit of fun, when else would I get to wear something so extra?’

‘I’ve seen some of the jokes that have been made about my dress but it doesn’t bother me. It was a bit of fun and I liked not being too serious.

‘After the semi-final I had a wine in my hotel bar with Jonny and looked through some of the comments. We laughed so much looking at them!’

After her incredible performance, Rebecca insisted she was enjoying her life at home with her children too much to take on any more gigs at the time.
