After nearly 15 years of operation, Mike Wolfe, star of American Pickers, has closed his Antique Archaeology store in Nashville, Tennessee. The decision, announced in April 2025, marks a massive shift in Wolfe’s career. The antiques collector and reality TV star is planning to shake things up, but TV fans and Tennesseans haven’t seen the last of him.

In an emotional message shared on social media, Mike Wolfe announced the end of Antique Archaeology in Nashville. In an emotional post, he expressed gratitude for the community and visitors who supported the store over the years. The store, located in the historic Marathon Motor Works building, officially closed its doors on April 27, 2025, after nearly 15 years in the city.

Wolfe opened the store in 2011, a year after American Pickers premiered on the History Channel. He chose Nashville for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant community, which aligned with his passion for preserving Americana. The store quickly became a destination for fans and collectors alike, but still required a fair bit of oversight from Wolfe.

Why did he close down the shop?

While fans and critics have suggested Wolfe was losing money on the venture as Nashville grows more expensive by the day, the reality TV star insists there is more to it than money. In his announcement, Wolfe called the decision a “tough” one. He cited a desire to slow down and spend more time with his family in his hometown of LeClaire, Iowa, as a primary reason for the closure. He plans to focus on new projects closer to his home base now that the store has closed.

The original Antique Archaeology store in LeClaire, Iowa, remains open. He is still active in the antique-picking community and has no plans to slow down that business. With more time in LeClaire, he plans to expand his property business, too. According to the U.S. Sun, Wolfe has completed the renovation of a $300,000 rental property in LeClaire, now part of his Two Lanes Guesthouse brand.

Wolfe isn’t leaving the hustle and bustle completely behind. While he’s shuttered his antique store, he has plans to open a wine bar in Columbia, Tennessee. According to Parade, the space is slated to open in June and will offer patrons plenty of charm. More episodes of American Pickers are reportedly also in the works.
