Abby De La Rosa emphasizes a clear priority in her family life with Nick Cannon: the well-being of their children.

During a recent conversation on Lovers By Shan, De La Rosa opened up about navigating co-parenting in Cannon’s expansive family network.

“Witnessing the kids together has been a blessing I’ve experienced many times,” she shared. “In those moments, it’s evident that personal pride must take a back seat because the children deserve to bond.”

She noted that while the children enjoy time together, the mothers do not interact with one another.

“As for us mothers, we don’t communicate. Each of us leads our own lives independently. There’s no tradition of family gatherings or Sunday dinners,” she explained.

“Now, as for the mothers, we don’t have any communication with each other. Like, we all live very separate lives. We’re all very individualized. There’s never no like let’s have family gatherings and Sunday dinners and things.”

De La Rosa said ego is part of the reason behind that dynamic.

“I’m trying to tell you it’s ego. It’s different. It’s like when Nick is here, Nick is the father of my kids. And it’s like we all have the same father of the same kids. Like it’s very much ego driven. But, you know, eventually everyone will get over it and maybe one day.”

For now, Nick coordinates everything. “It’s just like Nick calls [the] shot. ‘Hey, can I bring the kids over? Hey, can they have a play date on this date?’ And we agree or we’ll send the nannies to do it. And that’s really it.”

Ultimately, De La Rosa said she is content with her life. “Yeah. I love my life with Nick. I love my life with our children.”

She also said she is not envious of any of the other mothers.

“I think every baby mama is so different in their own right, which is beautiful. And that’s their thing. That’s their thing and I have my thing and everyone’s who they are. There’s not one baby mama I’d look at and be like, I wish I had that. No, I’m like, great, they have that. No, let me get back to my life. Like, I love my life.”

Cannon is a father of 12. He shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey; sons Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah and daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with De La Rosa; son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; daughter Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole; and daughter Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott. He and Scott’s son Zen died from brain cancer in December 2021.
