Abigail Hawk Says She ‘Would Have Done Anything’ to Be a Part of ‘Blue Bloods’ Final Family Dinner

Blue Bloods brought in some familiar faces to sit at the dinner table during the show’s series finale on December 13 — but Abigail Hawk’s character, Abigail Baker, wasn’t one of them.

During an interview with Spectrum News on New Year’s Eve, Abigail, 43, explained why fans loved watching Blue Bloods and the characters so much.

“Well, I think they’re people. I think that people can see themselves in these roles,” she told reporter Shannan Ferry. “These are sisters and brothers and friends and moms and dads, and I think the family dinner is something that we all yearn for.”

“Life is very busy for all of us, probably too busy for most of us and I just feel like it encourages those conversations, that true dialogue, which I feel like is kind of starting to be remiss in our culture,” the actress added. “We’re not willing to have disagreeing or dissenting opinions anymore and I think that dialogue is important.”

Shannan pointed out that Abigail was not at the final family dinner on the show, despite being a cast member since season 1 in 2010.

“Yeah, Bob Clohessy and I, Sid Gormley, if you’re ever on Jeopardy! anyone watching, you can use that if it’s ever a Jeopardy! question because we were the only two that didn’t make it to family dinner,” she explained. “I would have washed dishes. I would have done anything. I would have shopped for the roast, not that I would have had any idea what I was doing because I wouldn’t have.”

“But I would’ve done anything, and I wasn’t there,” Abigail continued. “I would have taken a mixology course. I would have done anything,” she said before joking about pouring wine. “Baker was more known for bar fights, wasn’t she?”

In the comments section of the post, one person said, “We need to resurrect the show so Baker and Gormley can come to family dinner.”

At the final family dinner, Jamie Reagan and Eddie Janko-Reagan announced they were expecting their first child. And viewers were disappointed to find that Maria Baez was also missing from the dinner table after Danny Reagan asked her out for pizza.

“Honestly, it didn’t really come to the forefront,” showrunner Kevin Wade told Deadline on December 13 of Baez’s absence. “Because at the end of their last scene together, there was a hint of a whiff of a promise that they were going to leave that squad and go off to dinner and end up at one or the other’s house, yes. But it felt like a big leap, with only two minutes left, after 14 years, to introduce them like that at the dinner.”

“We’ve done it in Season 8 with Jamie and Eddie, and it felt like we had plenty of tarmac to get there,” he said while comparing the progress of Danny and Maria’s relationship in the show’s final season. “This would have been a little too quick, I think. To me, it was just too fast. But that’s one of those things that I said before. Here’s what you can imagine in the future. If you love the show, feel free to draw it for yourself. We just left little, little crumbs there.”
