America has made its choice, and it’s clear that Aiden Ross has captured the nation’s heart.

On the evening of Tuesday, December 16, the season finale of The Voice culminated in host Carson Daly announcing the 20-year-old Texan as the champion of season 28.

“I’m truly speechless. Thank you all from the depths of my heart!” Ross expressed on Instagram shortly after his victory. “I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. Performing this season has been the highlight of my life, and I am incredibly honored to be named the Season 28 winner of The Voice 🏆.”

This win also marked the third triumph for coach Niall Horan on The Voice. Each season he has taken his place in the iconic red chair, the former One Direction star has guided a contestant to victory.

The Voice Winners Through the Years Where Are They Now

Since its debut in 2011, The Voice has mesmerized audiences with exceptional talent from around the nation, celebrating 27 winners before this season. Back in season 19, New York’s own Carter Rubin wowed viewers with his vocal prowess, helping coach Gwen Stefani achieve her first win on the NBC singing competition.

In fact, Horan was the one who secured Ross after he received a four-chair turn during the blind auditions for his rendition of Adele’s “Love in the Dark.”

“I’ve grown so much as an individual and an artist, met some of my best friends and learned from the very best in the industry,” Ross reflected via Instagram after the win. “Thank you for following my journey… this is just the beginning💙.”

The Texas native had to press pause on some classes to compete on The Voice. Ross is currently a sophomore at Texas A&M University pursuing an industrial distribution major.

Ross said he chose not to study music in college because of his fears.

“It didn’t seem like there was light at the end of the tunnel,” he shared in a video for his college. “I didn’t think there was a space in it for me.”

Does Aiden Ross Have a Girlfriend?

While Ross doesn’t post much about his personal life on Instagram, it appears the singer is dating a woman named Lauren Moore.

“Proud president of the @aidenrossmusic fan club!!” Moore wrote via Instagram on finale night. “Aiden is joyful, humble, kind, and the sweetest man alive!! I am so blessed to get to cheer him on every day. Let’s make him the winner of @nbcthevoice tonight!!”

After Ross’ blind audition grabbed the attention of all four coaches, including Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé, the performer continued impressing all who watched him.

During the finale, Ross chose to cover ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All.” Weeks earlier, the singer impressed the coaches with a rendition of Damien Rice‘s “The Blower’s Daughter.”

What Does the Winner of ‘The Voice’ Get?

According to NBC, the winning artist of The Voice will receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

Winners also receive a substantial cash prize, which reportedly has been $100,000 since the show first started airing in 2011.

Before Ross won The Voice, Horan shared a glimpse into why he’s such a fan of his finalist.

“Since the minute that chair turned around, I just felt like I was looking at myself up there,” Horan exclusively shared with Us Weekly. “There’s so many comparisons to be made. I mean, he’s a ridiculous singer.”

The former One Direction member went on to call him “arguably the best singer I’ve heard around in a long time.”
