Alicia Keys made the 67th Annual Grammy Awards a family affair, attending the  event in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, with her husband, Swizz Beatz, and their two kids, Egypt Daoud, 14, and Genesis Ali, 10.

The night was a big one for the 17-time Grammy winner, who not only took home Best Musical Theater Album but also received the prestigious Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. Named after the legendary producer, the award honors artists whose influence extends beyond music into entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

During her powerful acceptance speech, Keys addressed the importance of diversity and inclusion, particularly in light of recent executive orders from President Donald Trump that halted DEI programs.

“This is not the time to shut down the diversity of voices. We’ve seen on this stage talented, hardworking people from different backgrounds with different points of view, and it changes the game,” she said. “DEI is not a threat, it’s a gift.”

She continued, “And the more voices, the more power for the sound. When destructive forces try to burn us down, we rise from the ashes like a phoenix and as you see tonight, music is the unstoppable language that connects us all. So beautiful.”

Alicia also expressed gratitude to those who inspire her daily, including her husband, children, and stepchildren. In addition to the children he shares with Keys, Swizz Beatz is dad to son Prince, 24, with Nicole Levy; Kaseem Jr., 18, with ex-wife Mashonda Tifrere; and daughter Nicole, 16, with Jahna Sebastian).

“[To] my beautiful kids Egypt, Genesis, KJ, Nicki, Nas—for sharing me with the world. And to my brilliant husband, my soulmate, and the ultimate dreamweaver, Swizzy. And most importantly, to every artist here tonight—you are brilliant. This room is unstoppable, it’s powerful. So never stop being just like you.”
