The hosts of The View have come forward in support of Georgia State Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene after President Trump branded her a “traitor” and withdrew his endorsement. The incident has sparked a lively discussion on the popular talk show.

Joy Behar expressed her disapproval of Trump’s actions, describing it as “really disgraceful” during Monday’s broadcast. She criticized the former president for instilling fear in Greene, stating, “Putting the fear of God in her is not a very nice thing at all.” Behar also mentioned that members of Trump’s team are allegedly sending threats to Greene.

Sunny Hostin echoed Behar’s sentiments, recalling Greene’s recent appearance on The View. Hostin noted that the Georgia congresswoman had surprised the hosts with the unexpected similarities they shared. She questioned Trump’s claim that “nobody cares” about Greene, asserting that his base is likely responsible for the threats and vitriol Greene is facing.

“I was shocked when she was here,” Hostin admitted. “I thought maybe a pod person was sitting here and Marjorie Taylor Greene, the real one, was in somebody’s basement. I don’t understand the shift.” Hostin suggested that Greene’s apparent move away from extreme right-wing views could be a strategic maneuver to bolster her prospects in future elections.

Despite her reservations, Hostin acknowledged Greene’s willingness to own up to her past actions, noting, “I give her credit for saying, ‘I took part in some of that toxicity and I apologize.’ That takes a pretty big person to do that.” However, Hostin confessed she remains uncertain about Greene’s sincerity, stating, “I’m still on the fence about her but I don’t know.”

Ana Navarro, who has been the subject of criticism from Trump’s White House administration multiple times, also pointed out that they are seeing a “new” side of the controversial politician.

“It’s absolutely true. I can attest to this, when Donald Trump attacks you, it’s like the gates of hell opens up and every little demon goes through and comes at you, so yes. That part is true,” she said.

However, Navarro denied the idea that Greene is “afraid” of Trump. But she does believe that Greene deserves “the benefit of the doubt.”

“It doesn’t mean we forgive her QAnon conspiracies, it doesn’t mean we forgive [what Greene said about] Jewish space lasers, it doesn’t mean the way she acted at the State of the Union, it doesn’t mean that we forget any of that,” Navarro said.

She continued, “But it does mean this is a new Marjorie Taylor Greene. I don’t think she’s got anything to win from this.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
