Andy Cohen didn’t hold back his thoughts on the enthusiasm, or lack thereof, displayed by Jenna Bush Hager’s husband, Henry Hager, during a special birthday message on Today With Jenna & Friends. The message aired on Tuesday, November 25, as part of the show’s broadcast, and it featured Henry wishing Jenna a happy birthday.

In addition to the birthday greeting, Henry announced that he would be stepping in as a guest host on Today alongside Jenna during the holiday season, specifically on December 25 and December 31. “Happy birthday, Jenna. Hope you have a wonderful day today,” Henry said in the video. “As a present to you and your viewers, I will be coming to co-host the holidays with you. So, let’s get ready to do this. Can’t wait.”

However, it was Henry’s delivery that caught Andy Cohen’s attention. Without skipping a beat, Cohen humorously critiqued the subdued energy of the message, making Jenna laugh. “Wow, you can feel the energy coming off of Henry,” Cohen remarked with sarcasm. “Wow, that was electric. Is he going to be bringing this energy to the show? Woah, we’re not ready.”

While Henry’s sincerity was clear, Cohen’s playful jab highlighted the challenge of matching the dynamic atmosphere of live television. As the holiday season approaches, viewers will undoubtedly be curious to see how Henry’s guest-hosting debut unfolds.

“Wow, you can feel the energy coming off of Henry,” Cohen quipped sarcastically, causing Jenna to laugh. “Wow, that was electric. Is he going to be bringing this energy to the show? Woah, we’re not ready.”

Jenna could not contain her laughter as Cohen went on to imitate Henry. “‘Uh, I am going to be cohosting your show.’ Was that a hostage video or a birthday greeting?” he joked.

“By the way, if you think that’s bad you should see the videos my kids do,” Jenna responded.

Cohen went on to tease Henry for his “crackling excitement” but added, “Wow okay, well we look forward to Henry co-hosting Christmas Day and New Years Eve.”

This won’t be Henry’s first time on the show. During his first time guest hosting Today With Jenna & Friends, he and Jenna did a lie detector test which forced him to admit she’s given him “the ick” before.

Jenna told Cohen that Henry was initially unwilling to return to the show after his co-hosting stint.

“We had such a fun time,” she gushed during Tuesday’s broadcast. “He was really cute. We asked him to come back and he said no so this is really a gift and we’ll see how it goes.”

Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
