Andy Cohen is wholeheartedly embracing HBO Max’s newest sensation, Heated Rivalry. He’s even dedicating moments during Watch What Happens Live to advocate for the show, as seen when he recommended it to guest John Oliver during Tuesday night’s episode on January 6.

Curious about Oliver’s exposure to the series, Cohen inquired, “Have you started watching Heated Rivalry yet, since it’s part of your HBO family?” Oliver confessed he hadn’t but assured, “I will check it out.”

When Oliver questioned the show’s quality, Cohen enthusiastically responded, “Absolutely. It’s amazing. Hockey players who have intimate encounters. What more could you ask for?”

Cohen’s frank depiction of Heated Rivalry left Oliver in fits of laughter, leading the Last Week Tonight host to jest, “Is that the tagline? It should be. ‘Hockey players who have intimate encounters. Why aren’t you watching this?'”

As an executive producer of The Real Housewives, Cohen seizes every chance to discuss the buzzworthy series, which revolves around two rival hockey players involved in a clandestine romance spanning years. During CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast last week, Cohen and Anderson Cooper playfully debated over which character they identified with the most.

“Of the two of us, you’re Ilya and I’m Shane,” Cohen told Cooper, referring to Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams’ characters on the show.

“What?! I”m not either of them. I’m Kip,” Cooper countered, referring to the character played by Robbie G.K.

Despite their disagreement, Heated Rivalry author Rachel Reid was happy to see her work mentioned in the broadcast. Posting a photo of their exchange on her Instagram Story, Reid wrote, “I keep thinking nothing can surprise me at this point, but…”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
