The following article discusses spoilers from the Chainsaw Man manga.

The long-awaited arc of Chainsaw Man has finally taken off with great excitement. Chapter 225, aptly titled “Barf, Motorcycle, Hell,” sees Denji embarking on a perilous journey to fulfill a promise made to Power at the conclusion of the manga’s first part. His quest to locate the Blood Devil in Hell sets the stage for an encounter with more than just familiar faces.

As Denji plunges through the gateway to Hell in Chapter 225, Yoru races behind him. Her pursuit is driven by a mix of worry over Denji’s actions upon arrival and the grim reality that he remains oblivious to the nightmarish entities he is about to unleash. Readers can brace themselves for a firsthand experience of these impending horrors when Chapter 226 hits the shelves on January 13.

As Denji dives through the door to Hell in Chainsaw Man 225, Yoru desperately chases after him – partially in fear of what he’ll do when he gets there, and partially out of concern for the fact that Denji doesn’t realize the terrors he’ll awaken in that unholy place. Fans will soon witness those horrors firsthand when Chainsaw Man Chapter 226 comes out on January 13.

The Blood Devil’s Reincarnation Has Always Been Denji’s Main Reason For Going to Hell

The most obvious Devil set to return during the Hell Arc will be Power’s Blood Devil reincarnation. The entire reason Chainsaw Man fans have been so hyped for the Hell Arc is because of the contract Power made with Denji at the end of Part 1, which made it inevitable that Denji would one day go looking for his best friend in Hell. Now that the time has come, there’s no telling what form th Blood Devil will take when Denji is reunited with her in Hell.

It’s well-known that the Blood Devil won’t be the Power Denji once knew, but it’s likely it’ll retain many of the design tropes that made her stand out. That includes her cross-shaped irises and the horns on her head. On the other hand, the Blood Devil will almost certainly act with hostility toward Denji at first, because it won’t have any recollection of its past as Power.

The Control Devil’s Death is Still Hard to Process For The Chainsaw Man Fandom

While many Chainsaw Man fans have trouble admitting it, it’s highly likely that Nayuta died at the sushi restaurant in Chapter 170. That being the case, the Control Devil’s reincarnation is almost definitely somewhere in Hell, just waiting to be found by Denji. While the Control Devil won’t be the Nayuta that Denji came to know and love, it’s not as though she’ll be a complete stranger, either.

Denji has come to intimately know two different incarnations of the Control Devil at this point, and he has loved them both in their own unique ways. Whoever the next Control Devil is, Denji will almost certainly know how to get through to her better than anyone, making the likelihood that she’ll become his ally seem all-but-guaranteed.

The Hell Devil’s Main Power is Arbitrary to Yoru in The Manga’s Current Arc

There’s no better time for the Hell Devil to return than during Denji’s journey to Hell itself. The Hell Devil has not been seen since the End of Part 1, when Pochita cut it to shreds with his chainsaw arms. Even so, the Hell Devil survived the attack, and was able to send Pochita to Hell using its special ability.

As terrifying as the Hell Devil’s ability was in Part 1, it’s all but pointless as of the current arc of CSM Part 2. Yoru has the ability to freely create doorways to Hell without any effort, making the Hell Devil’s main power seem arbitrary. Still, there could be something more up the Hell Devil’s sleeve fans haven’t seen yet if it does return in Chainsaw Man’s Hell Arc.

The Ghost Devil’s Connection to Denji’s Past Would Make Its Return More Powerful

The Ghost Devil was killed by Aki Hayakawa early in CSM Part 1 during the fight against Akane Sawatari. In one of the most iconic scenes of the series, the Ghost Devil handed Aki a cigarette belonging to Himeno before it was killed, indicating that part of Himeno’s spirit remained within it. It’s a chilling and bittersweet moment, and that’s exactly why the Ghost Devil’s return would be even more interesting if it came back during the Hell Arc.

Perhaps Denji might even reunite with a ghastly apparition of Himeno herself in Hell, all thanks to the Ghost Devil. Even though Fujimoto is never one for heartwarming reunions, vomit-inducing memories are never off the table.

The Darkness Devil Remains Chainsaw Man’s Most Horrifying Primal Fear to Date

Hell is undeniably home to innumerable terrifying Devils, but there’s one in particular who fans already know lurks within the shadows there: the Darkness Devil. The Darkness Devil instantly became one of Chainsaw Man’s most iconic villains due to the beautifully ominous nature of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s art upon its introduction during the International Assassins Arc.

The Darkness Devil’s horrifying appearance was only matched by its equally terrifying powers, and there has really been no Devil since that has matched the sense of Eldritch dread the Darkness Devil commanded. Perhaps even more scary than the Darkness Devil is the possibility that Denji could encounter more of the Primal Fears in Hell, which fans have never even seen or heard about, but whose name will immediately resonate due to the innate terror their concepts represent.

The Angel Devil Has Never Felt at Home in Hell

The Angel Devil has recently become one of Chainsaw Man’s most popular characters – in large part due to his role in Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. What anime-only fans who have recently hopped on the Angel Devil bandwagon don’t yet realize is that Angel won’t make it out of Part 1 of the story. During the Control Devil Arc, the Angel Devil becomes one of Makima’s pawns, and ultimately dies.

While Angel’s death is never directly shown in the manga, Fujimoto confirmed during an interview that he was, in fact, dead. That being the case, the Angel Devil has definitely reincarnated in Hell, making it quite possible that Denji could run into Angel’s new incarnation in the manga’s upcoming arc. This is a particularly sad fate for Angel, because he recalls with deep regret his time spent in Hell during a discussion with Aki in Part 1.

The (Real) Chainsaw Devil’s Introduction Would Reveal Pochita’s Deepest Secrets

While it’s technically not a confirmed Devil, the reveal of the long-theorized ‘Chainsaw Devil’ in Hell would be an incredible moment. Despite Pochita being called the Chainsaw Devil, many Chainsaw Man fans have theorized that he’s actually some other Devil, largely due to his strange ability to erase other Devils and their concepts from existence by eating them.

While Barem Bridge postulates in CSM Part 2 that perhaps chainsaws had another use which humanity forgot about after Chainsaw Man ate its corresponding Devil, CSM fans have come up with other ideas. One of the most prominent theories is that Pochita is really the Birth Devil or the Life Devil, and that the scarf made of entrails protruding from his belly is really an umbilical cord meant to symbolize childbirth. Denji’s journey to Hell could finally unveil the truth about Pochita’s power, and that would all be catalyzed by the real Chainsaw Devil’s introduction in Hell.

New chapters of the Chainsaw Man manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto are released every Tuesday on Viz Media, Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app.
