The online game Marvel Rivals has just marked its first anniversary and appears to be gaining momentum as 2026 approaches. Fans are still buzzing over Rogue and Gambit’s introduction in Rivals Season 5, and now NetEase Games has unveiled what might be the most significant update since the game’s initial release in December 2024.

In a recent announcement, it was revealed that Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, is set to join the game’s lineup soon. This addition presents an exciting chance for Deadpool aficionados to dive back into the action-packed hero shooter.

According to a recent announcement, none other than Wade Wilson — better known as Deadpool — will be joining the game’s roster in the very near future. It’s a great opportunity for fans of the beloved character to refamiliarize themselves with the high-profile hero shooter.

The Merc With a Mouth Is Coming to Marvel Rivals

Fans have been expecting Deadpool’s arrival in Marvel Rivals for nearly a year now, as assets for the character were first datamined from the game in December 2024. The presence of these assets wasn’t necessarily a surprise given the character’s overwhelming popularity, but it’s great to see that the Merc With a Mouth will finally be part of Rivals’ playable roster.

Per NetEase’s surprise announcement at The Game Awards 2025, Deadpool will be added to Marvel Rivals on January 16, 2026, as part of Season 6: The Night at the Museum. Alongside Deadpool will be none other than vampire hunter Elsa Bloodstone — an appropriate answer to previous seasons’ vampire-themed additions.

It remains to be seen what role Deadpool will play in Marvel Rivals, although it’s heavily speculated that he will be a Duelist (DPS). Still, his regeneration factor is a canonical reason for him to be a Vanguard (Tank), and with Elsa Bloodstone almost certainly being a Duelist, the Merc With a Mouth may very well find himself on the frontline of the battle alongside other Vanguards.

Regardless of what he plays, Deadpool is likely the most commonly requested character who has yet to be added to the game’s roster. His announcement marks what is already shaping up to be a strong start for Marvel Rivals‘ second full year.
