The MG 1/100 Hyaku Shiki Ver.2.0 [Mechanical Core Plating] model kit brings the Hyaku Shiki to life like never before, with its golden sheen shimmering brighter than ever. Exclusive to the Gundam Base, it’s a variant of a previous Master Grade kit for the mecha. It also features a unique plating that puts the gleam in its gold colors, which is perfect for the accompanying milestone reached in 2025.

New Master Grade Gunpla Model Kit Reaches the Gundam Gold Standard for 40th Anniversary

As the name might suggest, Bandai’s MG 1/100 Hyaku Shiki Ver.2.0 [Mechanical Core Plating] kit is a recreation of the Hyaku Shiki from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. The main difference this time is the “mechanical core plating” applied to the gold model kit. This involves the core side of each part being vapor-deposited with plating, increasing the brilliance of the exterior. The process also means that there could be divergences in the parts, and essentially, no two kits will be exactly alike. Given its already golden aesthetic, there’s no mobile suit more worthy of this treatment than the Hyaku Shiki. As a Master Grade, the kit is also loaded with detail, and its arsenal of weapons is just as impressive.

Along with the parts for the figure itself, the MG Hyaku Shiki has multiple accessories. These include three visors (normal, red and an “Image Directive Encode,” two Beam Sabers, a Beam Rifle and a Clay Bazooka (with a removable magazine). There are also adapters for the Balluete System for the joints and an action base included, along with standing and sitting figurines of Quattro Bajeena (a disguised form for Char Aznable from the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime). Sold for 17,600 yen (~US$120), the kit is now available, and the timing is perfect. The year 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam anime, so buying such a shiny model kit is one of the best ways to honor this beloved sequel.
