Sanrio’s popular Hello Kitty & Friends mascots have come to life in an adorable new Lego-like building block release in North America. The kawaii mascot is also joined by similar building block sets for the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.
Via GameSpot, Jazwares launched its new line of Lego-esque building block sets “BLDR,” kicking off with numerous noteworthy sets, including three different Hello Kitty and Friends versions. The Hello Kitty & Friends Dream Cafe retails for $30, which, across 354 pieces, sees fans build a Hello Kitty-inspired café with blue doors and windows, a red exterior, and a white roof and bow, in addition to Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin figures. It’s joined by Keroppi Mart ($20, 269 pieces), a similar concept featuring a 24-hour Keroppi-themed store staffed by the character alongside a shopping Hello Kitty. Finally, Badtz-Maru looks stylish in his red convertible, with other buildable items including a pink streetlamp and Pompompurin. The set costs $10 and has 145 pieces. Hello Kitty Fans Can Build Their Own ‘Dream Cafe’ & More With New Toy Collections
Hello Kitty’s Dream Cafe is teased, “This little set has walls that open to a larger interior play space and dining area, streetlights, and Kitty’s friends Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin.” All the building block sets are available from the BLDR storefront page on Amazon. The Hello Kitty & Friends sets were joined by the popular anime series Chainsaw Man, where fans can build Denji in his chainsaw form, and Yuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen, who hits a Black Flash. Four other sets inspired by the Squishmallows franchise — Patty’s Farmer’s Market, Sunny’s Park Life and Avery’s Ball Game — cost $20, with the Outdoor Adventure Club version costing $33.
The Hello Kitty BLDR sets follow somewhat similar building-toy releases from well-known Japanese brand Nanoblock last year. Hello Kitty, Pochacco, Hangyodon, My Melody, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll were all featured. The popular Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series also received Nanoblock collector’s kits for Yugi, Seto Kaiba, Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Summoned Skull and Black Luster Soldier in cute sprite-like forms.
