This holiday season, the Solo Leveling franchise is venturing into new realms with an innovative live-action ice performance, and a freshly released trailer is generating buzz ahead of its debut on Christmas Eve.
The teaser for Solo Leveling On Ice unveils an exciting adaptation of the Shadow Monarch’s adventure, now transformed into a mesmerizing ice musical. This first glimpse showcases the stunning visual effects and captivating figure skating routines. The spotlight is on the main cast, featuring Jay (Kim Jinhwan) from the K-pop sensation iKON, who takes on the lead role of Sung Jinwoo.
The trailer reveals the production’s ambitious goal of “crossing the dimensional barrier,” achieved through cutting-edge projection effects that vividly animate the Solo Leveling universe on ice. This spectacular musical event is scheduled to enchant audiences at the Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul, South Korea, from December 24 to December 31, 2025.
According to the trailer, the production aims for a “crossing the dimensional barrier” by utilizing large-scale projection effects to bring the Solo Leveling‘s world to life on the ice. The musical is set to play at the Mokdong Ice Ring in Seoul, South Korea, from Dec. 24 to Dec. 31, 2025.
Official Solo Leveling Ice Musical Reveals New Trailer
The production, which was announced last month, features a mix of idol talent and professional athletes to handle the physical demands of the action musical. Joining Jay is Kim Chae-yeon, a member of the K-pop girl group Triple S, who has been cast as Sung Jinah, the protagonist’s younger sister. The supporting cast includes Choi Woo-hyuk as Yoo Jinho, former figure skater Kim Yelim as the S-Rank huntress Cha Hae-in, and national team member Lee Si-hyeong in the role of the shadow soldier Igris.
Leading up to the premiere, the show’s official social media channels have released numerous behind-the-scenes footage and original soundtrack videos, including the OST “The Hearts Beats” performed by lead actor Jay and “Gate of Chaos” performed by Guckkasten’s lead vocalist and guitarist Ha Hyunwoo.
The ice musical is not the only live-action adaptation that Solo Leveling franchise is gearing up for, as a K-drama adaptation by Netflix is currently also in production. The project is being co-directed by Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo, with Lovely Runner star Byeon Woo-seok confirmed to play the role of Sung Jinwoo. Recent casting updates suggest that actor Kang You-seok is in talks to play Yoo Jinho and Han So-hee is being eyed for the role of Cha Hae-in.
The Solo Leveling franchise vaulted into global stardom primarily on the back of its anime adaptation, produced by A-1 Pictures and Aniplex. Both the debut season and the follow-up second season proved to be massive hits, shattering viewership records on Crunchyroll, despite sometimes having a more lukewarm response in Japan.
This success directly fueled the franchise’s expansion into gaming, with the mobile and PC title Solo Leveling: Arise riding the anime’s momentum to become a financial juggernaut in its own right, making approximately US$100 million within a month of its release. However, despite the property’s dominance across mediums, audiences are still anxiously awaiting official confirmation and updates regarding a third season.
