There is good news for fans of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. It is finally being added to Hulu, nearly ten years after the anime made its debut.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Complete Season 1 (Dubbed and Subbed) is on the Hulu schedule for June 3, in the streaming platform’s Crunchyroll category. The classic series will be added alongside other anime titles like So I’m a Spider, So What?, Wise Man’s Grandchild and Yuri on Ice, all of which arrive on Hulu on the same day. While only the first season of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid will be available on Hulu, both seasons will remain streaming on Crunchyroll.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Debuted Back in 2017

For a series as beloved as this one, it’s surprising that it hasn’t been easily accessible on mainstream U.S. platforms like Hulu until now. Still, it shows that global anime distribution is becoming more widespread and making fan-favorite titles more accessible than ever for casual viewers. The upcoming addition of the show to Hulu is the perfect opportunity for old fans and those who want to check out the series to watch the early episodes without needing a separate Crunchyroll subscription.

Season One of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid began airing in Japan in 2017 on Kyoto Animation. Crunchyroll simulcast the series on its platform, with a Funimation English dub following shortly after. Based on the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Coolkyousinnjya, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid revolves around a female office worker who finds a young dragon with the ability to transform into a humanoid girl when she hires her as her live-in maid. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid offers fans a mix of quirky comedy and emotional storytelling. The enthusiastic dragon Tohru proves her loyalty to the show’s titular character. Episodes beautifully mix the slice-of-life format with a supernatural twist, giving a hilarious and touching look at themes including family, identity, and human connection.

Four years after the series made its debut, a second season titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S aired in Japan, and a video game (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon Breath) followed in 2022. This June, a film, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved, is set to premiere and further the story. A June 27 release date has been confirmed for Japan, but it remains to be seen if an English dub and corresponding Western theatrical release will follow.

The Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga has also inspired multiple spin-offs, including Elma’s Office Lady Diary, Fafnir the Recluse and Kanna’s Daily Life, which are also released in English via Seven Seas Publishing.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid will be available on Hulu beginning June 3.
