Solo Leveling: ARISE has given fans a new official webtoon showcasing the origin stories of one of Sung Jinwoo’s fiercest allies. The character was also added to the RPG game as a playable character.

The Netmarble forums recently published Hunter: Origin – Lennart Niermann’s Story, a new official webtoon in the Solo Leveling universe that details the strongest hunter in Germany’s origins. The character appeared in the main Solo Leveling webtoon and light novels as an S-Rank Hunter and Guild Master of the Richter Guild. As the strongest hunter from his home country, Lennart’s power is so strong in the series that he was able to sense the presence of Jinwoo’s shadow army concealed inside the protagonist’s shadow — something that other powerful characters like Goto Ryuji and Chae Hae-in were not able to do.

New Official Solo Leveling Webtoon Explores Lennart Niermann’s Origin Story

The new Solo Leveling webtoon stars Lennart Niermann in a story where he works to uncover the truth behind the tragedy surrounding his younger adoptive brother, Bjorn. While the webtoon doesn’t show much action or fighting, it does give readers a glimpse into Lennart’s motivations, as well as showcase his close family bonds. Lennart is the latest character to get a special Arise origin story, with previously introduced hunters like Thomas Andre likewise getting their own webtoons.

Lennart Niermann’s origin webtoon comes just as the character was added to Netmarble’s Solo Leveling: Arise RPG game. An SSR Wind Mage character, Lennart was added in the game’s recent update along with his exclusive weapon, The Weight of Responsibility. He can be obtained through Rate Up Draw and can also be experienced through the game’s Hunter Preview mode. Fans can get the exclusive weapon through crafting or events. In addition, Lennart’s Profile Icon, Dossier, Codex and Bonds will also be added in the update. In addition to the origin story, Netmarble also teased a Secret Library for Lennart Niermann being added to the game. A costume, Leisurely Moment, is also available, with three chromas available to change the color palette.

A gameplay video shared by Netmarble highlights Lennart’s role in the game as both an offense and defense-capable mage. Through team buffing divination circles and powerful AoE wind-attacks, Niermann is able to help out his allies while still being more than capable of dishing out damage on his own.

Solo Leveling is a South Korean portal fantasy series originally written by Chugong. An anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures premiered in 2024, with a second season — Arise from the Shadow — airing earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Netmarble’s Solo Leveling: Arise game was released on May 8, 2024, and allows players to team up as some of the best hunters from the original story, playing through some of Solo Leveling‘s best battles and exploring all-new stories developed for the game. It is currently available for download on the App Store, Google Play and PC, with a console release window set for 2025 “at the earliest.”
