One Piece Day is a yearly celebration honoring Eiichiro Oda’s iconic manga and anime franchise, usually featuring exciting updates about the series with fans or teasing its future. One thrilling (and long overdue) reveal during One Piece Day 2025 was the confirmation of a new female-led anime.
The official One Piece X (formerly Twitter) account shared a post confirming that the One Piece: Heroines novel would receive the anime treatment. Per the post, One Piece fans can “enjoy episodes that depict the charms of the heroines that you won’t see in the main story.” The novel follows characters including Nami, Nico Robin, Boa Hancock, Uta and more as they experience their own adventures in a collection of short stories.
One Piece Day 2025 Confirms Official One Piece: Heroines Anime
One Piece: Heroines is a fairly recent expansion to the One Piece universe, as it was initially released in June 2021 in Japan, with an official English-language release in April 2025. Comprised of eight chapters that individually feature one of One Piece‘s leading women at the center, One Piece: Heroines dedicates time to not only Nami and Nico Robin, but also to Perona, Boa Hancock, Tashigi, Reiju Vinsmoke and Uta.
The anime adaptation’s key visual was shared as part of the announcement, accompanied by a main staff reveal for the production side. These include Haruka Kamatani (director), Momoka Toyoda (script) and Takashi Kojima (character designer). A specific release date for the anime or an announcement about its exact format/episode count have yet to be confirmed.
Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Series Has Been Confirmed for Season 3
The women of One Piece will continue to play a greater role in the One Piece universe outside the women-centric Heroines novel and anime as Netflix’s live-action series continues to commit to continuous seasons. During Tudum, the main cast of Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 shared a first look at the adorable antlered doctor Tony Tony Chopper, while also offering a glimpse at what the upcoming season has to offer as the Straw Hats venture towards the Grand Line. Netflix teased that “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet.”
Like One Piece: Heroines, Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 will feature key-point women from the anime, such as Miss Wednesday (Vivi), Dr. Kureha, Miss Valentine (Mikita), Tagashi and Nico Robin, otherwise known as Miss All Sunday. Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece will release sometime in 2026, and the streaming giant has now set sail for a third season, as also announced during One Piece Day 2025.
