Since its explosive premiere in the Fall 2024 Anime Season, Dandadan has established itself as a new-gen smash hit of cosmic proportions. Covering 33 chapters in a 12-episode first season, Science Saru’s genre-defying adaptation quickly won fans over with zany, imaginative world-building and visionary fight scenes. For shonen fans specifically, the anime’s popularity was only emboldened by Dandadan’s one-of-a-kind power system. Now that Dandadan‘s second season is currently streaming, fans get to witness even more impressive fights and skills.
In a universe where telekinetic aliens battle super-speed-possessing demon women for world domination, strong characters are bound to emerge – with incredible powers to match. Any superpower is on the table, giving Dandadan free reign to introduce some of the most delightful and strange abilities in modern shonen. Not limited by the more structured rules of conventional battle shonen power systems, Dandadan takes conventional superpowers like invisibility and turns them into truly unmatched paranormal skills.
Updated on August 14, 2025 by Robbie Robinson: Dandadan’s second season is currently streaming, but the manga hasn’t slowed down either. Dandadan’s cast of characters grows with every arc, and the manga’s current arc has been no different. Dandadan’s powers can be a bit tricky to rank as many of them rely on type match-ups, each having their own pros and cons in specific scenarios. But, some powers stand out more than others with well-rounded usage and reliability. This list has been updated to include more of the strongest abilities in Dandadan and to get this article up to date with CBR’s current formatting standards.
Few Can Withstand One of Peeny Weeny’s Punches At Full Power
Peeny Weeny, also known as Mr. Mantis Shrimp, initially appears as a hired mercenary for the Serpos. Perfectly in line with Momo’s class learning about the raw power of a mantis shrimp, Peeny Weeny is an alien version of that creature. In other words, Peeny Weeny possesses extra power for his punches when underwater. Peeny Weeny might not have the strongest powers, but he’s come in clutch more than once to save the Dandadan crew.

10 Most Dangerous Dandadan Characters, Ranked
Dandan’s yokai aren’t the only dangerous characters in the anime taking the Summer 2025 anime season by storm.
Perhaps the biggest downside to his underwater strength is that he has no gills. So, even though he’s OP when completely submerged in his other alien form, he can only stay underwater for as long as he can breathe. An interesting thing about Peeny Weeny is that he’s actually considered a pretty weak fighter for his species. With that in mind, the race of alien mantis shrimp could probably rank a lot higher if viewers/readers could see the potential of one of their strongest fighters.
Seiko Ayase Has Taught More Than One Student How to Use Their Ki
After Jiji insists on keeping Evil Eye inside of him, it prompts Seiko to teach him how to use his ki. Ki or “chi” refers to the spiritual energy inside of someone, and, as Seiko herself has said multiple times, Jiji has a very impressive amount of spiritual energy. But, Momo has also already been taught how to use her ki to her advantage. While using one’s own ki doesn’t sound very powerful, it has amazing defensive and offensive capabilities.
In terms of defense, using ki can prevent someone’s body from being moved, making them feel like the equivalent of a massive boulder. It’s also able to hold back the powers of Evil Eye, an extremely deadly yokai. In terms of offense, ki can be channeled into destructive beams capable of obliterating anything in its path. When it comes to versatility, ki is sort of broken, especially because it doesn’t require being partially possessed by a yokai or some different otherworldly stuff – it comes from within.
Kashimoto’s Flames Can Freeze Anything
A newer character introduced in Dandadan, Kashimoto is still a bit mysterious. He knows a lot about curses, but that’s not the ability that makes him stand out. While there’s not a lot of information about it at this time in the manga, Kashimoto borrows the powers of a spirit guardian. It resembles a type of bird, likely a phoenix, and it allows him to use his ice flames.
Kashimoto’s ice flames are frighteningly cold, able to freeze just about anything they touch in a mere instant. The freezing properties are already strong enough, as they can take care of any average enemy with ease, but they have another cool ability. Kashimoto can actually use the flames to powerup/protect his hands whenever he punches. As such, his punches are immensely powerful as well.
Payase’s Shadow Form Is As Strong As It Is Cool
Partner of Kashimoto, Payase is another associate of Seiko. His deranged love for cursed objects might make him a bit odd, but he’s absolutely to be feared in combat, all thanks to his ability to manipulate darkness and shadows. One of the coolest aspects of his powers is that he can actually attack the shadows of others through his own – it’s a quick and efficient way to take care of lesser enemies in larger groups.
He can also travel through his shadow, which not only gives him an element of surprise when attacking, but it’s just an excellent way to move from place to place in or out of combat. The best part of Payase’s shadow manipulation is that he has a darkness form. In this state, he becomes one with his shadows, making him even more of a threat on the battlefield. His shadows have mass to them as well, meaning that he can turn them into sharp spikes to attack if he so chooses.
Enenra’s Smoke Manipulation Makes Him Hard to Beat
One of the newest antagonists of Dandadan, Enenra is a powerful yokai in the Kozuka Knives arc. Initially, Seiko and the others believe him to be a priest, but he reveals himself to be yet another working to claim Momo’s powers. Seiko holds up against him for as long as she can, but his powers get the jump on her. While he’s also capable of empowering his attacks by naming them, something also done by Jiji and Momo, that’s not his strongest ability.
Enenra has the power of smoke manipulation. In other words, his body can become entirely intangible like a smoke cloud, making it incredibly difficult to get a hit in on him. But, that’s not all he can do with his smoke powers. Enenra can also summon smoke allies to fight alongside him, allowing him to completely overwhelm his enemies. The fact that he can dish out painful hits and then become smoke to avoid getting injured makes his ability one of the strongest in Dandadan.
Umbrella Boy’s Power Is the Manifestation of Unji’s Bond with His Deceased Brother
A more recent addition to Dandadan’s main cast, Unji Zuma shares the spiritual powers of Umbrella Boy, the spirit of his deceased little brother, Futa. While Zuma’s Umbrella Boy transformation comes with many limitations, he is only capable of manifesting two shockwave-blasting umbrellas. However, that’s not too different from Okarun’s limitations on only being able to go “all out” a couple of times.

Granny Seiko Proves That She Is As Powerful As They Claim In Dandadan’s Latest Episode
Dandadan’s Granny Seiko showcases her incredible strength and strategic skills in a thrilling battle against Evil Eye Jiji.
When the Fairy-Tale Card possessed Unji, Umbrella Boy gained the speed to match Turbo Granny, he could fire his umbrella shockwaves repeatedly, and even used the blasts to mimic flight. However, Unji’s body couldn’t sustain the transformation for long as the power of Umbrella Boy was too great for his fragile human form. Another transformation power is always useful for the Dandadan crew, but Unji’s Umbrella Boy is out-ranked by the other transformations so far.
Acrobatic Silky’s Prehensile Hair Seems Practically Indestructible
Aira Shiratori was her school’s most popular girl. That is, until Momo hit her with a washbin and kick-started a series of events that culminated in Aira gaining the powers of the dangerous Acrobatic Silky. With devastating power and a commitment to stopping all evil (including, as she sees it, Momo Ayase) Aira’s explosive power is extremely fitting for a person convinced they’re the chosen one.
Before her death, Acrobatic Silky supernaturally controlled her hair to bind, cut, and attack enemies. After receiving the power for herself, Aira quickly perfects it, and is able to increase her speed and strength through the use of Silky’s former power. In the battle against the Kur, she even discovers that by letting her hair dry out, she becomes resistant to electricity, a feat that gave her a massive advantage against alien tech.
Rin Sawaki Turned a Curse Into the Power to Control Gravity
For a time, class rep Rin Sawaki was opposed to Okarun and Momo’s friendship. Citing its distraction to her class’s lessons, she asks Momo outright to stop pulling him out to converse. This interaction brings Rin into the hero’s supernatural orbit and, as often happens, leads to her developing supernatural powers.
The development of Rin’s spiritual sensitivity leads her to discover that she’s been haunted by an Onbusuman, a yokai threatening to use its power to crush her. She soon learns that the Onbusuman was actually her late childhood friend Mai Kawabunga, and manages to make a friend out of her personal poltergeist. By combining their powers together, Rin can become a spiritual idol with the ability to control gravity by singing. Rin’s gravity control actually ends up being a huge savior at the end of Danmara arc.
The Fairy-Tale Card Exploits People’s Pain to Control Their Bodies
A yokai so powerful it had to be sealed away in a cursed diorama to prevent it from causing havoc, the Fairy-Tale Card is a terrifying master of psychological manipulation. While not physically strong, this spirit has tricks to make others fight its battles, like using Unji and Momo to escape from its prison. Its greatest strong point is that it has very few weaknesses.
The Fairy-Tale Card’s most terrifying ability lets it possess any person in its vicinity by using the victim’s traumatic memories to break their spirit. Under its control, a person’s spiritual powers peak, but their bodies crumble from strain. The Fairy-Tale Card also uses its various faces to erase its opponents’ features such as their eyes and mouths, and can only be defeated by destroying all of its cards at once, making it nigh-invincible.
The Evil Eye Draws Strength from the Pain of His Fellow Sacrifices
At the time of his introduction in the Cursed House arc, the Evil Eye – the spirit of a sacrificed child who took possession of Jiji’s body – was considered the strongest paranormal opponent the protagonists had the misfortune of facing. As one of DanDaDans most terrifying yokai, the Evil Eye has the power to manifest the grudges each of its fellow sacrifices held against their killers. The Evil Eye rejoiced in fighting anyone who took up the challenge.
Swift, resourceful, and empowered by Jiji’s limitless spiritual energy, the Evil Eye remained a huge obstacle for the heroes up until Okarun managed to defeat him and strike a deal to become the yokai’s sole opponent. However, with Jiji’s incredible spiritual potential, he has every chance to eventually overpower the yokai lingering inside his body – or even take the Evil Eye’s power for himself. Even to this day in the Dandadan manga, Evil Eye’s immense strength remains a trump card.
