Just as fans of One Piece were marveling at the pinnacle of power with Advanced Conqueror’s Haki, the anime has upped the ante by introducing the concept of immortality. While Brook has been a beloved character since before the timeskip, the unique type of immortality linked to the Deep Deep Contract is reserved for characters of an entirely different league.

Imu and those who share in their immortality stand among the most powerful figures in the One Piece universe. These characters can regenerate immediately from any attack unless it’s charged with Advanced Conqueror’s Haki. Their sheer strength varies from being on par with a Vice Admiral to reaching the pinnacle of power in the One Piece realm.

Though Brook is technically a key player in One Piece, he doesn’t come close to matching the might of other immortal figures in the series. Even though the Straw Hat Pirates’ musician achieves eternal life by consuming the Yomi Yomi no Mi, he remains vulnerable to numerous adversaries who, despite lacking Advanced Conqueror’s Haki, surpass him in strength.

Brook is One of the Weakest Members of the Straw Hat Pirates

Despite technically being one of One Piece’s main characters, Brook isn’t even close to being on the same level of strength as any other immortal character in the series. While the musician of the Straw Hat Pirates may be able to live forever as a result of having eaten the Yomi Yomi no Mi, he can still be killed by any of the numerous characters who don’t have Advanced Conqueror’s Haki, but who are still stronger than him.

Brook has had several moments to shine throughout One Piece, especially during the Whole Cake Island Saga, but he’s never actually won a serious one-on-one fight. His speed, ingenuity, swordsmanship, and ice and soul powers all appear impressive, but fans currently have little reason to believe he’s significantly stronger than even the Weak Trio of Chopper, Nami, and Usopp.

God’s Knights Mostly Rely Too Heavily on Their Immortality

When God’s Knights were introduced, it was with such hype and grandeur that many fans speculated them to be even more powerful than the Marine Admirals. However, while they’re formidable fighters, and their inability to be hurt by those without Advanced Conqueror’s Haki does make them dangerous to the vast majority of characters, they’ve largely proven to not be all that.

The “average” God’s Knights fans have gotten to see the most of are Saint Sommers, Saint Killingham, and Saint Maffey, and none of them seem to be any stronger than the Marine Vice Admirals they look down on. Fans have seen Sommers be humiliated by both Silvers Rayleigh and Scopper Gaban, Maffey, in her prime, was forced to flee by a casual attack from Whitebeard, and while Killingham’s Devil Fruit powers are certainly the most impressive of the bunch, it’s unlikely he’s worth much more than his friends in a fight.

The Five Elders Have Power Befitting the Public Rulers of the World

Few anime villains have ever gotten as much build-up as the Five Elders, with them debuting in One Piece Episode 151, and not fighting until almost 1000 episodes later. While they certainly did offer plenty of menace when they appeared on Egghead with their Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits and immortality, they weren’t the ultimate endgame villains fans were expecting either.

With their massive size and extreme levels of raw power, Jaygarcia Saturn, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, Marcus Mars, Topman Warcury, and Shepherd Ju Peter were all capable of combating Gear 5 Luffy and Gear 5 Bonney, but not of defeating them. Without their immortality, these fascists would have certainly met their ends at the hands of the champions of liberation.

Manmayer Gunko Serves as the Vessel of Imu

While God’s Knights have overall proven to be a disappointment, the hype around Manmayer Gunko remains strong. She was introduced as the partner of the organization’s leader, Figarland Shamrock, and was shown to be able to significantly injure Loki, and this was before she was revealed to be much, more older than she looks, and the personal servant and vessel of Imu.

Having eaten the Aro Aro no Mi, Gunko can create arrows, with which she can strike and restrain her enemies, as well as manipulate their movements, and increase the power of her own attacks. She effortlessly defeated Jinbe, once again proving him to be the most useless Straw Hat Pirate and, during the God Valley Incident, her skills were seen as being comparable to those of Figlarland Garling.

Figarland Garling Has Seemingly Grown Much Stronger Since God Valley

Despite being set up to be one of One Piece’s endgame villains, Figarland Garling’s strength is tough to assess. While both himself and Imu value his power more than that of the original Five Elders, and his son, Shanks, is the strongest mortal character in the series, Garling was completely embarrassed during the God Valley flashback, completely unable to put up a fight against Rocks D. Xebec while he was in his prime.

Easy as it might be to mock Garling as a “Fraud,” he shouldn’t be judged too harshly for losing badly to one of the strongest characters in One Piece history. When the time for him to fight in the present day comes, he’s extremely likely to be on the same level as the Marine Admirals, if not even more of a threat.

Figarland Shamrock Likely Has Strength Similar to That of Shanks

The current leader of God’s Knights, and the twin brother of Shanks, it would make no sense for Figarland Shamrock to have been introduced into One Piece during its Final Saga, and not be on the level of the Yonkos and Admirals. Virtually no one in the series has strength comparable to Shanks’, and a clash between the brothers, or between Luffy and his inspiration’s twin, feels inevitable.

Shamrock’s sword is imbued with the power of the Devil Fruit power of a Cerberus, and he was able to use this weapon to strike fear into Loki. Shamrock’s rank indicates him as being stronger than Gunko and, by virtue of being in his prime, he’s undoubtedly a superior fighter to his father.

Imu is Currently the Most Powerful Character in One Piece

The source of immortality for nearly every other character with the power in the series, it’s obvious that Imu is the strongest immortal in One Piece. Imu rules the world of One Piece with an iron fist, and while the exact nature of their abilities is currently as mysterious as their identity, their strength is still clearly beyond that of every Admiral and Yonko.

During the God Valley Incident, Imu brushed off simultaneous attacks from Rocks, Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, Garp, and Roger. Both then, and in the present, Imu has demonstrated their “Domi Reversi” technique, which allows them to turn seemingly anyone into a rampaging demon.
