Following the success of recent Shonen Jump+ anime adaptations like Dandadan and Kaiju No.8, another title from the digital manga platform is set to follow the same path. Shueisha has announced that the marriage-centric action manga Marriagetoxin is being greenlit for a TV anime adaptation set to release in 2026, with Studio Bones, known for its work on Fullmetal Alchemist and My Hero Academia, supervising the adaptation.
Marriagetoxin, written by Joumyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, follows the story of Hikaru Gero, a highly-skilled assassin from the Poison Masters Clan with zero romance experience. To preserve his family’s bloodline, he teams up with a master marriage swindler, Mei Kinosaki, to find a suitable partner. Per a press release, the announcement is accompanied by a new teaser trailer, character visuals, and details on the main voice cast and staff members working on the project. The teaser trailer showcases the unlikely duo’s first meeting, promising a wild ride as the assassin and marriage swindler embark on the world’s toughest mission for love.

The main voice cast will feature Haruki Ishiya as the assassin protagonist Hikaru Gero and Shion Wakayama as the suave marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki. The production will be led by a team of industry veterans at Bones Film, a division of Studio Bones that was recently founded. Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday) is directing the series, with Kohei Tokuoka (SK8 the Infinity) serving as chief animation director and character designer. Kimiko Ueno is handling the series composition and script, while Taisei Iwasaki and yuma yamaguchi are composing the music.
Original creator Joumyaku expressed immense excitement for the adaptation, giving a “huge shout-out” to artist Mizuki Yoda, the editors and all the readers who have supported the series. He praised the anime production team, stating that their “understanding of this work is on another level” and that “every meeting made the story even better.” After attending the first voice recording session, Joumyaku was thoroughly impressed with the cast, which led him to declare that the anime adaptation “will without a doubt be a masterpiece.”
Studio Bones is widely regarded as one of the industry’s best, having delivered multiple hit titles. While Bones Film is a newer subdivision, it too has worked on major adaptations, including Gachiakuta and My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. Furthermore, the studio is venturing into familiar and beloved territory, alongside Marriagetoxin, as Bones Film is also lined up to adapt Daemons of the Shadow Realm, the latest ongoing manga from Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa.
Marriagetoxin is currently serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ manga app and is available to international audiences on the Manga Plus platform. The manga currently has 14 volumes in circulation, with the 15th volume scheduled to launch on Oct. 3, 2025.
