My Adventures with Superman Season 3 is almost ready to take flight.
Executive producer and showrunner Jake Wyatt recently disclosed how long fans will have to wait until the animated Superman series returns, confirming via his X page that Season 3 is already in post-production. Additionally, when asked about the state of its spinoff My Adventures with Green Lantern, Wyatt described the show as “so much worse than you think” before playfully elaborating on his response, adding, “I mean that if you hate fun, you are gonna have a real bad time.”
Details about Season 3 are currently limited to concept art images, teasing Kara Zor-El joining Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen’s core group and a classic bald version of Lex Luthor. The infamous Superman villain – currently played by Nicholas Hoult in James Gunn’s Superman – started off in this universe as a disgruntled assistant of Anthony Ivo/Parasite, later joining Task Force X to help them build stronger anti-Superman weaponry. In Season 3, however, Wyatt teased an unexpected team dynamic between Luthor and fellow villain Slade Wilson, describing them as “two self-serving survivors” who “both survived General Lane, they both survived Amanda Waller, and now they’re out in the private sector trying to make it happen. So who comes out on top when it’s two treasonous little traitors in business together? I’m really excited to see that.” The new season will also mark the debut of Superboy, though his official connection to Superman in this universe remains to be seen.
DC’s Next Big Cartoon Will Expand My Adventures with Superman’s Universe Further
My Adventures with Green Lantern was announced earlier this year as one of three upcoming DC cartoons developed in conjunction with the DCU, with the others being Starfire and DC Super Powers. While My Adventures with Superman season 2 briefly had Superman fight a holographic Green Lantern Corps member, this new series will take place in the same anime-inspired world, following a teenage Jessica Cruz who’s chosen by a power ring to be the latest Lantern of Sector 2814. Having debuted in the comics between 2013-2014, Cruz has since appeared in multiple adaptations — ranging from DC Superhero Girls to Justice League vs. the Fatal Five — though this will be her first time headlining a series as its main protagonist.
Last year, Wyatt confirmed that storylines for My Adventures with Superman have been written through Season 4, following a younger Superman in his early years as both a hero and reporter. DC’s new live-action Superman, meanwhile, has been a critical and commercial success, recently surpassing Man of Steel to become the highest-grossing Superman film in terms of domestic box office revenue.
My Adventures with Superman is available to stream on HBO Max.
