Luka Doncic and the Lakers’ General Manager and President of Basketball Operations, Rob Pelinka, were musically celebrating their prolonged partnership. On Saturday, the five-time All-Star was seen attending a Backstreet Boys concert in Las Vegas with the Lakers staff.

The squad attended the concert after Doncic signed a $165 million max extension with the Lakers. Videos of the duo vibing out together went viral on Sunday. In one such clip posted on X, Pelinka and Doncic were seen singing their hearts out to the song “I Want It That Way”.

Pelinka has often presented himself as a professional in media appearances. So when the fans saw a casual side of him, they swarmed the comments section with their opinions. A few fans joked about Pelinka’s happiness being related to a possible LeBron James departure.

“Life without lebron looking better for my lakers,” one fan said.

“It’s what happens when you start seeing the future without Lebron,” another fan said.

“LeBron requesting a trade in the next two weeks,” another fan said.

Another set of fans commented on Pelinka’s happiness.

“Probably hasn’t felt this good since he was managing kobe lol,” one fan said.

“Pelinka gotta do whatever it takes to stay with the lakers including acting like he’s a cool hip 50+ yo dude,” another fan commented.

“Thats Rob with the Du Rag,” another fan said.

“An absolute killer on the court”: Rob Pelinka hails Luka Doncic following his max extension

Rob Pelinka showered praise on Luka Doncic after he signed an extension set to keep him in LA for the next three years. The Lakers set up a press conference on Saturday morning to announce the news and answer the media’s questions.

During the announcement, Pelinka hailed the five-time All-Star for his incredible skill and talent.

“Luka is an absolute killer on the court, and blends that with a unique generosity and care for the community,” He said. “Above all else, Luka will lead our franchise to pursue future championships, a goal that will forever define the Lakers.”

Doncic and LeBron James led the Lakers to a third-place finish in the standings last season. Unfortunately, the Timberwolves knocked them out in the first round. The first-round exit exposed the necessity for a big man on the squad who could pair up with Doncic and utilize the Slovenian national’s exceptional passing abilities.

This offseason, Rob Pelinka made sure to provide his team’s new superstar with a big man under the rim. He brought in Deandre Ayton to fill in the gap exposed during the postseason.
