The final Dragon Ball Super story will likely focus on the franchise’s most notorious villain, so now seems like a great time to idenitify who the strongest characters in the series are right now. Some of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball Super fit into hero and villain categories, but most of them fall somewhere in between. All of these characters have the power to wipe out entire solar systems by themselves.

Dragon Ball Super introduced the Multiverse and literal god-like beings, so it is not surprising that the strongest characters possess godly Ki and epic transformations. Ironically, several of the strongest characters have not even shown their full power yet, and they likely never will. The absolute strongest being can wipe out all known life in an instant.

Gohan Has Finally Reached His Godly Potential

Gohan Beast Can Go Toe-to-Toe With Dragon Ball’s Strongest Characters

Ever since he was a child, Gohan’s potential has seemingly been limitless. When Dragon Ball Super began, it appeared as though Gohan became much weaker because he focused on a family-oriented lifestyle rather than training. That said, he has gradually gotten stronger as the story has progressed, and he performed well during the Tournament of Power.

Gohan’s hidden potential finally emerged during Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero while fighting Cell Max, who was arguably as strong as Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan. Gohan Beast is said to be on par with Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, or even slightly stronger. Cell Max, who was considered a universal threat, was easily defeated by Gohan Beast, and this form allowed Gohan to fight evenly with Super Saiyan Broly.

Gogeta might be the byproduct of a fusion, but he is still considered amongst the strongest characters in Dragon Ball Super. He is the combination of Goku and Vegeta, but cannot be confused with Vegito. Gogeta occurs whenever Goku and Vegeta successfully perform the Fusion Dance, which means his existence is only temporary, but he can instantly turn the tide of any battle.

Dragon Ball’s Super Saiyan transformation has practically become synonymous with the series, but some characters push this form further than others.

Gogeta wields the combined and magnified strength of both Saiyan warriors. It is not clear if Gogeta can access Ultra Instinct, but he is capable of using Super Saiyan Blue, which places him into god-like territory. While in this state, Gogeta can overwhelm Broly while he is in his Legendary Super Saiyan form. It is heavily implied that Broly can surpass Beerus, which makes the fact that Gogeta walked away unscathed even more impressive.

Jiren Is The Only Mortal That The Gods Of Destruction Cannot Defeat

Universe 11 Has Spawned the Strongest Mortal of the Tournament of Power

Jiren was once considered the strongest mortal in the Multiverse, and he was without a doubt the strongest fighter in the Tournament of Power. Vegeta did not stand a chance against Jiren even when using Super Saiyan Blue, and Ultra Instinct Goku could not take him down either. Jiren was actually nominated to become Universe 11’s next God of Destruction, but he turned down the offer because he was more interested in justice than maintaining balance as a Destroyer.

As it currently stands, Jiren is more powerful than Belmond, Universe 11’s current God of Destruction. Even Toppo, the universe’s next God of Destruction, is weaker than Jiren. As a result, Jiren is the only known mortal who cannot be defeated by a Destroyer. If Jiren had released his full power from the beginning, he would have easily defeated all of the opposing universe’s fighters single-handedly.

7

Frieza Has Temporarily Surpassed Ultra Instinct Goku And Ultra Ego Vegeta

Frieza’s New Form Signals Danger for the Multiverse

Frieza has become the Dragon Ball franchise’s most iconic villain. From the moment he was introduced, Frieza had the power to destroy a planet with a single attack. Frieza gains a significant power boost each time he transforms, and his Golden Frieza form is on par with Super Saiyan Blue, and it allowed him to hold his own against Jiren for a time during the Tournament of Power.

In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Frieza has unlocked a new form which puts him a step below a God of Destruction. Black Frieza is said to have immeasurable power, which is understandable considering he easily KO’d Goku and Vegeta. At the time, Goku was using Ultra Instinct and Vegeta was using Ultra Ego, which means Frieza has already reached the realm of the gods.

6

Beerus Seems To Be The Strongest God Of Destruction

The God of Destruction of Universe 7 Reigns Supreme

As Universe 7’s God of Destruction, Beerus is the strongest being in the universe, second only to his Angel attendant. Beerus is strong enough to make someone as strong as Frieza scared. While using less than 70% of his true power, Beerus was able to overwhelm Goku’s Super Saiyan God form. Even if Goku and Vegeta both used Super Saiyan Blue at the same time, they cannot put any real pressure on Beerus.

Beerus can destroy an entire planet by simply tapping his finger, and he can destroy almost anything in existence with Hakai, an advanced Destroyer technique. Goku may have achieved Ultra Instinct and Vegeta may have unlocked Ultra Ego, but Beerus is still stronger than them both since he has never revealed his full power. In the manga, it has also been hinted that Beerus is the strongest of the current Gods of Destruction because he fought several of his counterparts at the same time.

Merus Is Only Slightly Weaker Than Full-Fledged Guide Angels

The Galactic Patrol’s Strongest Soldier Is Whis’ Younger BrotherJaco, Merus, Vegeta, and Goku join the battle in Dragon Ball Super's manga.

Merus is Whis’ younger brother and a former Angel trainee who was personally trained by the Grand Priest. He was sent to join the Galactic Patrol of Universe 7 in order to get a better understanding about mortals. As expected, Merus quickly rose through the ranks and became the Galactic Patrol’s strongest soldier. As a result, the organization was able to capture some of the Milky Way’s most powerful criminals.

10 Ways Dragon Ball Would Be Totally Different Without Plot Armor

As powerful as Goku and Vegeta are, they would’ve been defeated innumerable times had it not been for Dragon Ball’s plentiful instances of plot armor.

As an Angel-in-training, Merus’ power is not as fully developed as his siblings’, but he is still considered one of the strongest beings in the entire Multiverse. He can use Autonomous Ultra Instinct to instantly react to incoming threats. When using his maximum power and godly Ki, Merus can easily overpower Moro, an ancient wizard who consumes worlds. He may have lost a large amount of power after being revived, but Merus’ power is still incredible.

4

Whis Has Trained Multiple God-Tier Characters

Goku and His Companions Owe Whis for Their Godly GrowthWhis, the Angel assigned to Universe 7, stands with his staff in Dragon Ball Super.

Whis is Beerus’ attendant and martial arts teacher, making him the strongest being in Universe 7. It is unclear how strong Whis is when compared to most of his siblings, but he is powerful enough to knock out an enraged Beerus with a single blow. Like his father and siblings, Whis can use Autonomous Ultra Instinct to its fullest extent. He can also manipulate matter and reverse time up to three minutes.

Super Saiyan Blue Goku stands no chance against Whis, as he can block all of Goku’s attacks with a single finger. Even Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta cannot compare to Whis’ power. In fact, Whis can predict Ultra Instinct Goku’s movements during training sessions. Moro was able to give Perfect Ultra Instinct Goku a hard time in the Dragon Ball Super manga, but Whis can stop one of Moro’s punches with one finger.

3

Vados Can Be Considered Slightly Stronger Than Whis

Vados Remains Dragon Ball’s Strongest Female CharacterVados watches the Tournament of Power with the other on-lookers in Dragon Ball Super.

As it currently stands, Vados is the tallest female character in Dragon Ball, and the argument can be made that she is also the strongest woman in the franchise. As the martial arts teacher and attendant of Champa, she is considered the strongest being in Universe 6. Vados likes to tease Champa for being out of shape, but she is kind-hearted to almost everyone else. In fact she is one of the few Angels who respects Goku.

According to Vegeta, Vados does not leave any openings for an attack, implying that she is as strong as Whis. That said, it has been hinted that she is slightly stronger than her younger brother. Vados can easily destroy a planet from a distance by simply tapping her staff. She can drag six Super Dragon Balls, which are the size of planets, at once, with no difficulty. She can also knock out a God of Destruction like Champa with a single blow to the neck.

The Grand Priest Is The Strongest Angel In Existence

All the Angels Are Subservient to The Grand PriestThe Grand Priest watches over his subjects in Dragon Ball Super.

The Grand Priest has served as the Omni-King’s primary adviser for thousands of years. He is also the father of the Angels who guide the Gods of Destruction. The Grand Priest is depicted as a calm and polite Angel, and although he seemed unfazed by entire universes being destroyed, he was genuinely happy when Android 17 restored the other universes with his wish after winning the Tournament of Power.

10 Things Dragon Ball Super Surprisingly Does Better Than the Original Dragon Ball Anime

Dragon Ball Super doesn’t always get the same love as its predecessors, but there are some ways in which Super trumps the original anime.

According to the Dragon Ball Super manga, the Grand Priest is the strongest fighter in the entire Multiverse. Whis himself stated that his power does not compare to that of his father’s. The Grand Priest has not needed to show his immense power yet, but he has shown glimpses of it. For example, he easily stopped Beerus and Quitela from punching each other using only his fingers. Rumsshi’s Battle Roar can paralyze other Gods of Destruction, yet the Grand Priest is completely unaffected by it.

1

Grand Zeno Has The Power To Wipe Out The Entire Multiverse

The Omni King’s Power Knows No Bounds

As the Omni-King, Grand Zeno is the supreme ruler of the Multiverse, making him the strongest character in the Dragon Ball franchise. He also happens to be the most powerful anime character in history. Zeno has a childlike and friendly demeanor, and he can be quite playful at times, but he has an indifference towards life and the events that transpire within the Multiverse.

Zeno lacks combat instincts that would normally be associated with his role. During the Tournament of Power, his eyes could not even keep up with Dyspo’s incredible speed. Despite this, every God of Destruction genuinely fears Grand Zeno. The Omni-King is the only being who can use Erase, a technique that can erase anything from existence, including most immortals. Zeno can wipe out entire universes in an instant with Erase, which is something no other Dragon Ball Super character is close to achieving.
