Bandai first launched the Dragon Ball Super Card Game back in 2017. Though it has struggled to keep up with Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering, the Dragon Ball Super Card Game has survived throughout the years and carved out its niche in the TCG world. It’s still chugging along even after it was essentially rebooted as Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion Worlds. This original iteration is now dubbed Masters and is still ongoing.

As with other TCGs, some cards in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game are rarer than others, going from Common and Uncommon up to Super Rare, Secret Rare, and even God Rare. Some of those particularly rare cards can quickly become rather expensive, further contributing to their rarity. This makes several of the most valuable Dragon Ball Super cards especially difficult to acquire.

Updated on February 24, 2025, by Michael Colwander: The Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World has reached its first anniversary, but the Masters format is still going strong. More Masters cards were added and updated price data, according to TCGPlayer.com.

Son Goku, Final Spirit Bomb (Alternate Art) Is a Much Rarer Version of a Cheap Card

Premium Anniversary Box 2023 – EX23-52

Alternate art version of the Son Goku Final Spirit Bomb card from the Dragon Ball Super Card Game.

For all the flack it gets, one thing Dragon Ball GT certainly got right was the ending. Son Goku, Final Spirit Bomb is a Secret Rare that can be found in the Anniversary Box 2023. While players can buy the original Secret Rare for around $4 since it’s guaranteed, this alternate art is much more rare as players have a small chance to get one.

Final Spirit Bomb is designed for a GT-based archetype, which does limit its playability. It gains 5,000 Power based on how many “Pan: GT” cards are in play. This is easy as Final Spirit Bomb can be played for three Energy and, in turn, it summons up to four “Pan: GT” cards with different names. If its Power exceeds 70,000, it knocks out all of the opponent’s Battle Cards, ignoring Barrier, and deals one Life of damage.

Broly, Ultimate Agent of Destruction Has Long Been a Powerful Force

Destroyer Kings – BT06-125

Original iteration of the Broly, Ultimate Agent of Destruction card from the Dragon Ball Super Card Game.

Broly, Ultimate Agent of Destruction is one of the oldest Secret Rares to still fetch a pretty penny hailing from Destroyer Kings – the sixth of soon-to-be 24 sets. Ultimate Agent of Destruction has seen a few reprints, making it affordable to play, but the original release is still sought due to its rarity and the card’s continual playability. Ultimate Agent of Destruction depicts a Super Saiyan 3 Broly, the Dragon Ball Z version of Broly, taken over by Babidi.

Ultimate Agent of Destruction complements its 40,000 Power with Double Strike and Dual Attack, meaning it can damage an opponent’s life up to four times in a turn. Ultimate Agent of Destruction can be played after discarding the entire hand if a Green Battle Card with an Energy cost of seven or more is removed or knocked out. If Ultimate Agent of Destruction attacks while the attacking player’s Life is at one, the opponent discards their entire hand, making it near impossible to stop the attack from going through.

Son Gohan, Beyond the Ultimate Finally Gives Gohan Beast an Epic Card

Fighter’s Ambition – BT19-152

Son Gohan Beyond the Ultimate card from the Dragon Ball Super Card Game.

Son Gohan, Beyond the Ultimate was the much-anticipated debut of Gohan Beast in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game. This Secret Rare from the Fighter’s Ambition set features fantastic artwork of Gohan Beast using the Special Beam Cannon as seen in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Beyond the Ultimate can be played for cheap so long as the player has two Energy and places two cards from their hand to the bottom of their deck.

Upon being played, Beyond the Ultimate sends all opponent’s Battle Cards and Unisons, ignoring Barrier, to their hand. Then if the opponent has more cards in their hand than the turn player, the opponent automatically loses a Life. Beyond the Ultimate can also turn up to two Battle Cards to Attack Mode and give the player the Critical skill, which means if they land an attack, the opponent discards that Life instead of putting it in their hand.

Tournament of Power & Assault of the Saiyans

Signature cards are a popular series of cards that have only been used twice. The first in the Tournament of Power set of May 2018 and the second in the Assault of the Saiyans set in 2019. These cards are incredibly rare given the low availability of the Tournament of Power set and the fact Signature Rares are some of the rarest cards to pull from Assault of the Saiyans.

The Tournament of Power Signature cards features Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, and Beerus while the Assault of the Saiyan Signature cards feature Future Trunks, Gohan, Hit, and Vegito. Each card features a facsimile signature of each character’s English dub voice actor — the autographs may not be real, but they add a nice touch to the cards’ designs. Bandai will likely bring these back someday, and they’re sure to be just as popular.

Bardock, Origin of the Legend (God Rare) Proved God Rares Weren’t Market Flukes

Dawn of the Z-Legends – BT18-148

Bardock, Origin of the Legend God Rare from Dragon Ball Super Card Game.
Image via Bandai

Bardock, Origin of the Legend is the second God Rare card ever produced. Surprisingly, it doesn’t feature an extremely popular character like Goku or Vegeta. Instead, this card focuses on Goku’s father, Bardock. Bardock has only appeared in Dragon Ball media a handful of times, but he’s become a strong fan favorite, which makes any card that he’s in a hit.

Market Value

$369.39

Cheapest Listed Price

$681.00

Median Listed Price

$680.50

More than that, though, Origin of the Legend is a solid card in play overall. Bardock, Origin of the Legend reaches 40,000 Power, making it a great card for players who love deep strategies. This is thanks to its ability to influence the opponent’s cards in Rest Mode, which can turn the tide of an entire game in one turn if used effectively.

Universal Onslought – BT9-136

Son Goku & Vegeta, Apex of Power Secret Rare from Dragon Ball Super Card Game.

Son Goku & Vegeta, Apex of Power could be viewed as a successor to Son Goku, The Awakened Power, since it has the same staggering 45,000 and one hit win Victory Strike ability. It also fits perfectly in a Universe 7 strategy, particularly Red/Blue ones. The striking art depicting the two most popular characters in all of Dragon Ball working side by side, despite Goku and Vegeta’s complicated friendship and rivalry, makes it a standout card for some collectors.

Even though Son Goku & Vegeta, Apex of Power is a Secret Rare card and not a God Rare, its age and popularity mean that it might as well be even above God Rare. Apex of Power was released in Universal Onslaught set in February 2020, so this card has been out of circulation for quite some time.

Son Goku, the Awakened Power Was the Original Record-Breaking Card

Tournament of Power – TB1-097

Son Goku, The Awakened Power Secret Rare from Dragon Ball Super Card Game.
Image via Bandai

Son Goku, The Awakened Power, found in the Tournament of Power set, is rare for the same reasons as Hope of Universe 7: its popularity and being in a set that was low-printed. The Awakened Power was the original must-have collector’s item for Dragon Ball Super Card Game. Showing Goku in his Ultra Instinct Form, The Awakened Power has an incredible 45,000 Power and two amazing abilities.

For one, the Permanent ability means its attack and skill can’t be negated. Meanwhile, the Victory Strike keyword ability means the entire game is automatically won if this card deals life damage to the opponent. That makes Son Goku, The Awakened Power one of the most powerful cards in the game and one of the most sought-after. On the other hand, a PSA 10 version of this card typically goes for over $900, which may not be worth it for some players.

Critical Blow – BT22-138 (Tournament Promo)

Bursting Rage is a serial numbered card given out as a prize for the Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters Championship 2024 Online & Offline Regionals. There are only 600 of these serial-numbered Bursting Rage cards in existence, and each one is individually numbered. While the market value of this card is $474.66, if the sports card hobby is anything to go by, the Bursting Rage numbered 1/600 will likely go for a higher premium as it was the first one printed.

Market Value

$474.66

Cheapest Listed Price

$777.00

$1000.00

Bursting Rage is an Extra card with an Active: Battle effect and has a cost of zero. After drawing one card, the player can place a Z-Leader on top of their Leader card so long as it’s Awakened and fits specific criteria. It also gets an extra 20,000 power for the battle. With a Z-Leader equipped, opponents can’t attack with Battle Cards and Unisons if they have 25,000 or more power for the rest of the turn. At the end of the turn, the Z-Leader is removed from the game. The Secret Rare version of this card, which depicts Super Saiyan 2 Gohan instead of Goku, has a market price of $67.49.

Power Absorbed Alternate Arts Can Only Be Found In Collector’s Boosters

Power Absorbed

Android 21, Transcendental Predator alternate art Secret Rare from Dragon Ball Super Card Game.
Image via Bandai

For the Power Absorbed set, Bandai tried something different, which was essentially a Collector’s Booster similar to Magic: The Gathering. Players can pull alternate arts of Secret Rares through this booster, highlighted by Android 21, Transcendental Predator. To say Android 21 is popular is an understatement. The Dragon Ball FighterZ character has slowly integrated herself with the greater Dragon Ball universe with her design, and origin as the wife of Dr. Gero, becoming canon as of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

The original Android 21, Transcendental Predator, which was a Secret Rare in the Power Absorbed set, isn’t too expensive. It has a current market price of $44.87. However, its alternate art goes for about ten times more than that. Golden Cooler, Radiant Pride features Cooler in his Golden Form while You Are Number One is an Extra card that depicts Vegeta’s short-lived realization and acceptance that Goku has surpassed him.

SS Gogeta, Fusion Reborn (God Rare) Is a God Rare Adding Colorful Flair

Critical Blow – BT22-140

God Rare version of the SS Gogeta Fusion Reborn card from the Dragon Ball Super Card Game.

It wasn’t long before one of Goku and Vegeta’s fusions received a God Rare, as Vegito was the first Secret Rare in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game. However, it’s Gogeta and not Vegito that first gets the God Rare, coming from the Critical Blow set. The Gogeta featured, as the name of the card indicates, is the Fusion Reborn iteration – still a popular moment in the Dragon Ball franchise despite little screentime. SS Gogeta, Fusion Reborn is a Blue/Yellow card that can easily be summoned by fusing a Goku and a Vegeta card for one Yellow and one Blue Energy.

This requires the player to have a minimum of three Energy. Fusion Reborn has the Aegis ability, which allows players to switch two of their Energy to Active Mode on their opponent’s turn during the Defensive step by placing two cards of the two designated colors in the Drop area. Fusion Reborn has an Auto ability that when an Energy is switched to Active Mode, the player can choose an opponent’s card to switch to Rest Mode, ignoring the Barrier skill. Afterward, Fusion Reborn is switched to Active Mode improving its survivability as well as allowing it to use its Blocker skill a second time.

Image via Bandai

The SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power card comes from the Realm of the Gods set that launched in March 2022. It’s the rarest card found in that particular Booster and is notable for being the first God Rare card in the game. Unbridled Power is a fitting name for the card, as it has an incredible 40,000 Power behind it. When played from the player’s hand, it can make one of the opponent’s Leader cards immediately drop by 5,000 Power.

SSB Vegeta, Unbridled Power is a powerful card, to be sure. It remains worthy of the name and image of one of the strongest fighters from Dragon Ball lore in one of Vegeta’s most powerful forms. However, the high power and the God Rare classification make this card one of the most sought-after. It’ll forever be a key part of Dragon Ball Super Card Game history.

Serial-numbered cards are still new territory for trading and collectible card games. Serial numbered cards have been immensely popular in the sports card market; but only recently has it begun to integrate itself into other card markets, culminating in The One Ring from Magic’s Tales from Middle-earth set. This makes SSB Kaio-Ken Son Goku, United Divinity one of the rarest cards in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game. United Divinity was designed to be the pseudo-set one Secret Rare since that set didn’t have one. It’s still a powerful card, especially for mono-Blue strategies.

SS4 Gogeta, Unrivaled Sparking Is Among the Best Looking Super Saiyan 4 Cards

Legend of the Dragon Balls – BT25-147

SS4 Gogeta, Unrivaled Sparking God Rare card in Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters

Super Saiyan 4 has been a pretty popular transformation, especially after SS4 Goku’s Daima appearance, so it’s no surprise a God Rare featuring SS4 Gogeta can fetch a lot of money. The God Rare of SS4 Gogeta, Unrivaled Sparking is based on the Secret Rare of the same name, which means only one card of this name can be played in the deck. Even if players want to pick up a cheaper version of this card, the Secret Rare version still has a market price of $266.05 with the only available listing as of this update priced at $450.

Unrivaled Sparking boasts Quadruple Strike and can be brought out with four energy if the player’s life is three or less and they have a Yellow leader card. During Activate: Main timing, the player can remove Unrivaled Sparking from the game and nuke the opposing player’s Battle Area, including cards with Barrier.

Ultra Instinct Son Goku, State of the Gods is the most recent God Rare appearing in the Perfect Combination set. State of the Gods features Goku in his completed Ultra Instinct form from the Tournament of Power. With the gold foil background, this card immediately stands out. Like other high-profile cards based around the Tournament of Power, State of the Gods has the Victory Strike keyword, which can yield a decisive blow in a game if it damages the opponent’s life.

It’s tough to stop, too, as opponents can only activate card effects from Battle Cards in response to State of the Gods, and they can only do that if they switch two of their Active Mode cards to Rest Mode. Its 45,000 Power makes it difficult to Combo over. On top of that, State of the Gods isn’t difficult to get on the field. For a Yellow Leader, the card requires four Yellow Energies while having at least five Energy total and ten Z-Energy.

Beyond Generations – BT24-062

SS Son Goku, Ground Shaking Fury card in Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters

The Collector’s Booster Holo of SS Son Goku, Ground-Shaking Fury is a visually stunning card. It features a blank white background and an image of Super Saiyan Goku from the Frieza Saga. Next to Goku, there’s “Dragon Ball Z” in gold foiling. Of course, Collector’s Booster Holos are tough to pull, which makes all of them very pricey.

As for what Ground-Shaking Fury does, it can be played for four Green energy if their Leader card is Green. It comes equipped with Triple Strike and Revenge and when it’s played, it knocks out all opposing Battle Cards with Barrier. Lastly, if it’s removed from the Battle Area via opponent skill, the opponent must discard three cards from their hand. The Super Rare version of this card can be obtained for under a dollar while the Special Rare version is priced at just under $3. Scarcity is a big reason this card is as expensive as it is.

On top of that, on Active: Main and Activate: Battle timing, the player can add 10,000 power to a Gogeta: BR in play of their choosing, including this card, once per turn. This gives it utility on offense and defense, but Shining Blue Strongest Warrior is expensive because it’s a stylish God Rare of a fan-favorite fusion.
