Although Hunter X Hunter took a break for the entirety of 2025, fans have reason to be optimistic as creator Yoshihiro Togashi is expected to release a new set of 10 chapters in 2026. This makes it an ideal moment to evaluate the series’ top 10 strongest characters still in action.
Even with the deaths of Meruem, his Royal Guards, and Isaac Netero, and with Gon Freecss permanently stripped of his Nen abilities, the world of Hunter X Hunter remains filled with formidable warriors. These characters have demonstrated exceptional Nen abilities, triumphed in remarkable battles, and harnessed intricate, powerful Nen techniques that continue to captivate fans.
Among these formidable fighters is Biscuit Kreuger, known as Bisky, who often presents herself as an unassuming child. In reality, she is a 57-year-old Nen master of significant repute. Trained by the legendary Isaac Netero, Bisky is a Transmuter who excels in all Nen categories and is skilled in the Shingen-Ryu martial arts style.
Biscuit Kreuger Remains Far Stronger Than Her Students Gon & Killua
Biscuit Kreuger, AKA Bisky, may choose to spend her time looking like a defenseless child, but the 57-year-old woman is actually one of the world’s premier Nen masters. Trained by Isaac Netero, Bisky is a Transmuter, but she’s proficient with all forms of Nen, as well as the Shingen-Ryu style of martial arts.
While Bisky’s displayed Nen abilities so far aren’t meant for combat, they are deeply complex and intricate, and she hardly even needs Hatsus, as seen in her effortless beatdown of one of the Bombers. She’s the best mentor Gon and Killua ever could have asked for and, according to the official databooks, there are hardly any characters in Hunter X Hunter who are stronger than her.
Silva Zoldyck & Zeno Zoldyck Are the World’s Greatest Assassins
The grandfather and father of Killua Zoldyck, respectively, Zeno and Silva Zoldyck are among the most dangerous characters in Hunter X Hunter from a pure combat perspective. The heads of the Zoldyck family, the world’s most feared and recognized assassins, Zeno and Silva haven’t had many opportunities to display their strength, but what has been shown makes it clear that Killua still has a long way to go if he wishes to surpass them.
Zeno was a close peer of Isaac Netero, and his Nen abilities, including Dragon Head, Dragon Lance, and Dragon Dive, rank among the flashiest and most destructive in the entire series. Silva, meanwhile, was strong enough to take Zeno’s place as the patriarch of the Zoldyck Family, and both the physical abilities he’s displayed, and his Explosive Orbs, make it no wonder how.
Chrollo Lucilfer Has the Widest Range of Nen Abilities in Hunter X Hunter
No Hunter X Hunter character has displayed more versatility with their Nen than the leader of the Phantom Troupe, Chrollo Lucilfer. A Specialist with the power to steal the Hatsus the others, Chrollo is a complete genius, and knows exactly how to maximize the potential of every Nen ability he obtains.
While Chrollo is far from the strongest member of his family, physically, his talent is still great enough to allow him to fight both Zeno and Silva Zoldyck simultaneously. He’s even the only character in Hunter X Hunter to have successfully defeated Hisoka Morrow, although accomplishing this feat did require a great deal of advanced planning on his part.
The Zodiacs Are the Former Sparring Partners of Isaac Netero
During his time leading the Hunter Association, Isaac Netero surrounded himself with direct subordinates and sparring partners that he deemed strong and entertaining, resulting in the formation of the Zodiacs. The most elite Hunters in the world, with the exception of new recruits Kurapika Kurta and Leorio Paradinight, the Zodiacs are all even more talented with Nen than Morel and Knov.
The remaining ten members of the original Zodiacs include: Mizaistom, Kanzai, Pyon, Botobai, Gel, Saccho, Ginta, Saiyu, Cluck, and Cheadle. Among them, Dragon Zodiac Botobai appears to be the physically strongest as the man who was “closest to Netero” and a Three-Star Terrorist Hunter, while Dog Zodiac Cheadle is likely equally talented with Nen in alternative ways, as a Triple-Star Disease Hunter, and the current Chairwoman of the Hunter Association.
Hisoka Morrow Has Battle IQ Unmatched by Any Other Character
Since the very first arc of Hunter X Hunter, Hisoka Morrow has been among the strongest fighters in the series. Despite being only a Transmuter with two very simple abilities, Bungee Gum and Texture Surprise, Hisoka manages to be a complete menace in every fight he enters, and he’s only grown more powerful since his death at the hands of Chrollo.
Empowered by Post-Mortem Nen, Hisoka is now so much stronger than Chrollo that the latter is currently being forced to seek out a new way to kill the man who assassinated two of his closest friends once and for all. If Hisoka doesn’t meet his end on the Black Whale, there’s no telling how much more powerful he could potentially become.
Prince Tserreidnich Could Become a Greater Threat to the World Than Meruem
While several of Kakin’s Princes have quickly established themselves as forces to be reckoned with, most notably Benjamin and Halkenburg, the one to be feared most is Fourth Prince Tserreidnich Hui Guo Rou. A prodigy far beyond any other in Hunter X Hunter, Tserreidnich has only just learned about the existence of Nen, and yet, in only a matter of days, he’s already well on his way to surpassing Isaac Netero.
As a Specialist, Tserreidnich has developed one of the most obscene Nen abilities in the series. With Parallel Future, the Kakin Prince can see ten seconds in the future, then re-live those ten seconds and change things as he pleases, with no one able to stop him as he does so. This is only the simplified explanation of the Hatsu, as the full explanation of how it works requires a large, detailed graph.
Morena Prudo Has the Power to Destroy the World & She Means to Use It
Given her many similarities to Mukuro, the strongest character in Togashi’s previous hit series Yu Yu Hakusho, it only makes sense that Morena Prudo ranks among the most powerful Nen users in Hunter X Hunter. The Boss of the Heil-Ly Family, Morena’s own combat abilities are currently vague, but that’s irrelevant when she has the power to make an army of Nen masters who are entirely loyal to her.
A Specialist with the ability Contagion, Morena, provided she meets a list of conditions, including winning a card game of her own design, can bring up to 22 players into her “game.” Players are forced by Nen to follow her orders and, starting at Level 1, they can level-up once for every person that they kill. Each level gained increases their aura, players who reach Level 20 develop a unique Hatsu, and players who reach Level 100 gain the ability to spread Contagion on their own.
Ging Freecss & Pariston Hill Are Clearly the Strongest Members of the Hunter Association
Among the Zodiacs, former members Ging Freecss and Pariston Hill stand out for a number of reasons. Ging is the father of former series protagonist Gon Freecss and officially one of the world’s five greatest Nen masters, while Pariston is Ging’s rival who served as the Vice Chairman of the Hunter Association and main antagonist of the 13th Hunter Association Chairman Election Arc, and who’s been set up as a potential major antagonist for the future Dark Continent Arc.
Ging’s unique Hatsus have not been shown, but he was powerful enough to create Greed Island, and he’s skilled enough to instantly copy any Nen ability that he sees. Even less is known about Pariston’s capabilities, but the fact he was Isaac’s #2, and is feared by Ging, speaks volumes.
Beyond Netero is an Even More Powerful Nen Master Than His Father
Isaac Netero was both a wicked man and the world’s greatest Nen master, and it’s been made apparent that his son, Beyond Netero, is both far more evil, and significantly stronger. While Tserreidnich and Morena are both currently serving as terrifying main antagonists for the Succession Contest Arc, Beyond Netero is still only being set up as the future main antagonist of the Dark Continent Arc.
Beyond has expressed confidence in his strength to the point he feels he could easily kill any one of the Zodiacs. He’s had decades to train and hone his abilities, and while his Hatsus remain a mystery, he’s a genius at least on par with Hisoka and Chrollo, and he’s responsible for the single-most horiffic and wide-spread Nen curse in Hunter X Hunter.
Alluka Zoldyck Can Grant Any Wish With the Power of a Calamity Within Her
Alluka Zoldyck is a little girl who can’t even use Nen, but sharing her body with Nanika automatically makes her the most powerful character in Hunter X Hunter. One of the Five Great Calamities, Nanika has the power to grant any wish, and while there are typically conditions placed on her abilities, these are self-imposed, as seen by the free wishes she happily gives to the one person she and Alluka love besides each other: Killua.
The only things truly holding Nanika back are that Alluka is defenseless on her own, and that she can’t grant her own wishes. When the other four Calamities are eventually introduced, they won’t share these weaknesses, and will undoubtedly take Alluka and Nanika’s place as the strongest characters in the series.
