Anticipating ‘9-1-1’ Season 10: Cast Reveals Exciting Character Developments and Romantic Twists

The talented ensemble of the hit ABC series 9-1-1 is eagerly anticipating the developments for their characters in the upcoming season 10. Their insights offer a glimpse into the evolving storylines that have captivated audiences.

Reflecting on his character’s journey, Oliver Stark, who brings Evan “Buck” Buckley to life, expressed his thoughts on the challenges Buck will face in the new season. “After the events at the end of season 9, Buck is stepping into a lot of new responsibilities,” Stark shared exclusively with Us Weekly at the Disney Upfronts 2026 red carpet event. “It will be intriguing to watch how he balances these with his career,” he added.

Since the show’s inception, Buck has experienced significant growth. The season 9 finale marked a pivotal moment as he became the guardian of 4-year-old Theo, following the tragic loss of Theo’s parents, who were close friends of Buck and whom he had helped as a sperm donor.

Ryan Guzman, who plays Eddie Diaz, confessed that he is unsure about his character’s future direction but has some personal hopes. “I’d love to see Eddie revisit his military background or perhaps find a new romantic storyline,” Guzman mused, considering possibilities for his character’s arc.

OLIVER STARK SEASON 9 FINALE EXLUSIVE FEATURE

Initially, Oliver Stark had reservations about Buck’s unexpected twist in the season 9 finale. (Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t watched!) In the final episode titled “Hearts and Flowers,” aired on May 7, Buck takes on the role of guardian for young Theo, marking a significant new chapter in his life.

A “love interest” for Eddie could be divisive, as many fans have hoped that the single dad would get together with Buck after years of close friendship. Guzman noted he’s well aware a Buck and Eddie romance would make “a lot of people happy.”

The actors, however, are not in control of where the story goes. “We obviously don’t write the show, and we just play the scenes as they come to us,” Stark explained to Us before highlighting how “meaningful” the “reaction” to “Buddie” has been for both himself and Guzman. “We love how invested the audience is in that relationship, whatever you view it as. And we play it as it comes and as authentically and truthfully as possible.”

As for Aisha Hinds, whose character, Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, ended season 9 in a strong place after battling dermatomyositis — a rare, serious, and chronic autoimmune connective tissue disorder — she noted that anything is possible when it comes to 9-1-1.

“I couldn’t tell you where [Hen is] going,” she said with a laugh. “I mean, she went to space, she lost all faculties, like, she surfaced again. Where do we go from there? I don’t know!”

9-1-1’s Oliver Stark Says Buck First Meeting Eddie in Season 2 Had an ‘Element’ of Bisexual Confusion

Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman are very aware that 9-1-1 fans are hoping to see their characters, Buck and Eddie, get together — and they’ve opened up about whether there’s potential for a romance on multiple occasions. “I’m open to it. You know, there’s obviously stuff there and there’s a chemistry between us,” Stark, who […]

She is, however, excited to hopefully lend her expertise as a mom of two on the show to Buck as he navigates his new life with Theo (played by twins Lincoln and Teddy Sykes). Hen shares son Denny (Declan Pratt) and daughter Mara (Askyler Bell) with onscreen wife Karen (Tracie Thoms).

“I get to be an auntie, Auntie to Theo, you know?” she noted. “I get to watch Big Buck and Little Buck face off. That’ll be fun.”

All nine seasons of 9-1-1 are available to stream on Hulu.
