In a recent development, Asari Dokubo, a former leader among Niger Delta militants, has delivered a stern admonition to Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo. This comes in response to Dachomo’s persistent assertions of an ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria, amidst escalating security challenges.

In a video circulating on social media platforms, Dokubo threatened to place a curse on the Plateau-based pastor, similar to those he has previously invoked on others. He claimed this would result in Dachomo’s demise within a day, labeling the pastor as deceitful and fraudulent.

Dokubo took aim at those who manipulate religious sentiments to propagate falsehoods. He emphasized that many of the crises in the northern region of Nigeria are not rooted in religious conflicts. He questioned the narrative of religious violence by pointing out that farmers in Sokoto and Kebbi continue to suffer at the hands of bandits, regardless of religious affiliations.

His frustration also extended to the broader spread of misinformation. Dokubo specifically mentioned remarks made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting such statements have fueled more hatred within Nigeria than they have helped resolve any issues.

“I hear so many voices, and at times, it makes me angry because they deliberately spread lies while claiming to be God’s messengers. Perhaps they’re toying with divine matters. You’re not the only one who can spout nonsense,” Dokubo remarked, expressing his exasperation.

On the issue of linking political leaders to religious crises, Dokubo questioned the accuracy of such claims, pointing out that fear and tribal conflicts are often misrepresented as religious conflicts.

He also warned against blaming President Tinubu, emphasizing that the president is innocent of the ongoing crisis and has no hand in it.

He concluded by condemning individuals who misinform the public and urged Nigerians to seek the real truth about conflicts, emphasizing that the government has first-hand information about what is happening.
