Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has firmly denied rumors suggesting he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race in favor of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to these reports, Atiku, who was the PDP’s presidential candidate in 2023, had supposedly decided to step aside for Obi and had agreed to back a one-term presidency to promote regional balance.
However, Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, has labeled these claims as both false and misleading.
On Saturday, December 27, Ibe addressed the issue by posting a screenshot of the report on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, responding succinctly:

The denial has triggered fresh reactions online, with supporters of Atiku and Peter Obi debating the 2027 permutations and possible political alliances.
The development is also coming amid reports that Peter Obi is planning to formally join the ADC, further fueling speculation ahead of the next general election.
With 2027 still some distance away, political calculations appear to be heating up, and Atiku has made it clear he is not stepping down for anyone.
