Former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar stirred reactions online after hinting at securing the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The development was revealed in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), following Atiku’s brief exchange with members of the press.
When asked about his plans for the upcoming election and when he would publicly declare his intention to run, the former Vice President responded, “We will let you know, we will give you formal announcement.”
A journalist then asked what would happen if he failed to secure the party’s ticket. Atiku, with confidence, replied, “Have I ever failed to get the ticket? I’m confident.”
On concerns about his age and calls for younger candidates to be given a chance, Atiku responded, “This is democracy. The young and old can contest.”
His remarks sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users flooding the comment section to share their views.
