Years before he fell for Kourtney, Barker made headlines for comments he shared about her younger sister, Kim Kardashian. In his 2015 memoir Can I Say, Barker revealed that he had developed a crush on Kim while dating Paris Hilton in the early 2000s. He described Kim as “eye candy” and admitted he couldn’t stop staring at her, even though nothing serious ever happened between them. While he insisted their relationship was platonic, the confession added an unexpected twist to his later involvement with the Kardashian family.
More recently, Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day alleged that Kim and Barker dated. While speaking on the Dumb Blonde Podcast on July 6, 2025, she discussed the socialite’s alleged relationship with the drummer. She discussed an incident during a past Fourth of July involving Barker’s now-ex-wife, Shanna Moakler.
“And one of them was with Kim, and she was dating Travis, and we went over to his house …,” O’Day started.
“Kim was dating Travis Barker?” Bunnie Xo questioned.
“Yes. We were rushed over, getting ready to go to Travis’ …,” O’Day said before starting her story.
Aubrey O’Day discussed her past ‘best’ friendship with Kim Kardashian
Aubrey O’Day got candid about her friendship with Kim Kardashian on the Dumb Blonde Podcast.
“You are gonna see a Kardashian every day for the rest of your life,” O’Day said on the podcast. “Unfortunately, we all are, because they pop up on Instagram, on everyone’s phone daily.”
She reiterated that she and Kim were “best friends” in the past. O’Day also mentioned that she thinks the Kardashians are “more powerful” than Sean “Diddy” Combs. Unfortunately, she’s no longer friends with Kim.
“I don’t believe the friendship was ever real, or it would still exist, right?” O’Day said. “I really thought we were friends, but I don’t know. I lived at her house; I was around during a pretty pivotal time in her — I’m on the first episode of The Kardashians, on the pilot. I was there when she first had paparazzi mob her Range Rover … we went shopping. I mean, I was there during the beginning. I don’t know who she is now as a person.”
Fans think the Danity Kane member is telling the truth
Kim Kardashian likely won’t address Aubrey O’Day’s candid confessions. However, fans suspect that O’Day is telling the truth.
“Listen, Aubrey is a lot of things, but a liar she is not,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “She’s always been very open about her life, even if it makes her look bad. She’s always spoke in Diddy for YEARS. He had her blacklisted and destroyed her career and her story never changed. People called her a liar, crazy, a jealous hater, and low and behold, now look, everything she said about him was true.”
Other fans suspect Kim and Travis Barker had a romance, but it never became serious.
“They were clearly seeing one another, but it wasn’t serious, and it likely flamed out early because of Shanna being the crazy ex in the wings,” another fan commented.
