The acclaimed director of Selma brought her personal life into the public eye at the 2026 Oscars, stepping onto the red carpet with her significant other for the first time.
In a conversation with Essence during the March 15 event, Ava was asked to complete the phrase, “I am proud of myself for…” With a radiant smile, she held her partner’s hand and confidently answered, “I am proud of myself for attending the Oscars with my honey.”
“Someone I’ve kept under wraps for quite a while,” the 53-year-old remarked, casting a loving glance at him. “And now he’s here with me.”
Ava and her boyfriend proved they were the perfect match as he coordinated his classic navy blue tuxedo with her navy blue Louis Vuitton gown.
After the ceremony, Ava and her love kept the romance going as they arrived at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party where they held hands while walking the carpet.
