Harry Kane scored twice as Bayern Munich beat Flamengo 4-2 to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain.
The Bundesliga champions started strong, taking the lead in the sixth minute when Erick Pulgar turned Joshua Kimmich’s corner into his own net.
Kane doubled the lead moments later with a left-footed strike from outside the box after Dayot Upamecano regained possession high up the pitch.
Flamengo responded through Luiz Araujo, whose effort tested Manuel Neuer, and were rewarded when Gerson slammed in a goal to make it 2-1.
But Bayern quickly restored their cushion before halftime, with Leon Goretzka capitalising on a poor clearance to beat Agustin Rossi from distance.
Jorginho pulled one back for the Brazilian side early in the second half, converting a penalty after Michael Olise was penalised for handball during a corner kick.
However, Kane sealed the win with his second of the match, a fine finish from the edge of the area, ensuring Bayern’s progress to the last eight.
Bayern will now face PSG in a highly anticipated quarter-final encounter later this week.
