Bells University of Technology has expelled a 100-level student who physically assaulted a female student for recording and sharing a video of him with his side girlfriend.

The video, reportedly sent to his main girlfriend, allegedly caused issues in his relationship, leading him to retaliate.

The university confirmed his expulsion in a statement shared on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. A post detailing the decision read:

“It’s confirmed that the boy who assaulted a female student has been EXPELLED. He has also apologized, and his parents have offered to cover the girl’s school fees.”

The school management also issued an official statement addressing the incident:

Dear Bellstech Students,”

This is to formally inform you that the school management has taken appropriate action regarding the assault case involving a 100-level student on March 13. The male student responsible has been expelled, while the female student remains in school.”

“As a student body, we urge everyone to desist from violence and behavior that violates school regulations or negatively impacts fellow students. Bells University maintains a firm zero-tolerance policy on bullying and assault. Justice has been served, and the necessary disciplinary measures have been taken.”

“Furthermore, we encourage students to celebrate the school’s achievements and positive strides, not only in times of conflict. We appreciate your patience, concern, and engagement on this matter. Let us continue fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive university environment for all.”

The incident, which sparked outrage online, reportedly took place on March 10, 2025.

According to sources, the female student—referred to as Girl, X —was physically attacked by the male student, identified as Tony, at the university’s football field. Witnesses stated that Tony severely beat the girl, leaving her bleeding heavily due to significant injuries.

A viral post detailing the assault read:

Tony attacked the girl after discovering she had sent a video of him with his side girlfriend to his main girlfriend—a month after it was recorded. After meeting her at the football field, he beat her up, recorded a video of her in that state, and captioned it, ‘Other girls will learn from this,’ while shouting at her to apologize and threatening to slap her again.”

The attack drew widespread condemnation, with many social media users demanding justice.

Following the uproar, the university took disciplinary action, leading to Tony’s expulsion.

Many individuals have since reacted to the news, flooding comment sections with mixed opinions on the expulsion and the events leading up to it.

See some reactions below:

@WTFKhaleeed: “for this life just mind your business, what if the guy dey cult chai. make dem sha arrest the tony guy cause this is too much.”

@bbenjamill: “Even MMA fighters don’t suffer this sort of trauma to the head, please arrest that boy.”

@AJEH__: “Has the management of the school taken disciplinary actions.”

@OloriOfOloris: “What’s the school authority doing about this? Theres no way this is going unpunished. Post his fucking picture!”

@RedHatPentester: “This is pure evil. Very very bad. But why you go take picture of something that doesn’t concern you. Though the beating is wrong but being quiet sometimes can save us from a lot of trouble.”

@NwanevuBrianda1: “If I talk now some guys will start calling me names..it’s time to put these guys in prison with hard labour. Anyone who indulges in domestic violence should be treated like a thief. Imagine the kind of inhumane treatment she received, this is horrendous.”

@N0HATESPEECH: “If your boyfriend is saying ‘she should have minded her business’ this is an advice, please you are dating a live wire, e fit shock you any one of these days.”

@swagnito: “She would not have sent any video to anybody.. Relationship issues are not for you to settle or dissolve. Sad incident tho but everyone would learn their lesson from this. The boy should be expelled and charged to court for attempted murder or battering.”
