Ben Affleck recently responded to being unexpectedly mentioned in the drama surrounding The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The actor addressed the situation after cast member Lisa Barlow cited him as a reason for skipping a filming session.

During an interview with Access Hollywood released on Friday, January 16, the 53-year-old actor shared his thoughts on the unusual situation.

In the interview, the host asked Affleck, “Lisa Barlow from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City claims she couldn’t film because she was with you and her husband at an event. Her fellow cast members are skeptical. Do you know who Lisa Barlow is?”

Looking puzzled, Affleck replied, “I don’t want to cause any trouble or misunderstandings. I’m not sure what this is about—an event in Salt Lake City? I’m supposed to prove something here?”

Lisa Barlow, known for her straightforward nature, seems ready to clarify the situation. Though she didn’t resort to her usual dramatic reveals involving easels and poster boards, her flair for creativity has landed her a spot in Us Weekly’s annual Reality Stars of the Year issue. In just six seasons, Barlow has become a standout figure in the reality TV world.

Access Hollywood’s reporter clarified that Barlow, 51, never specified which exact event she was attending that caused her to skip out on her filming responsibilities, but it was likely an event held in Utah.

“I haven’t been in Utah in maybe, 8, 9 or 10 years, I don’t know,” Affleck said. “It doesn’t look familiar to me and I don’t remember anything.

Although The Rip star thought it was unlikely he was at the event Barlow was referring to, he noted that there was a chance that they may have crossed paths and it has just slipped his mind due to so many people being at these types of events.

“I don’t want to embarrass her because, I say hi to a lot of people, I don’t want to be the jerk who is like, I did meet you… You don’t remember everyone you meet,” Affleck said.

The Gone Girl star concluded, “I don’t think I’m qualified to weigh in on this, whatever this raging controversy is.”

Barlow memorably missed the first cast trip of RHOSLC season 6, telling Angie Katsanevas that she didn’t want to spend time with Bronwyn Newport, as well as claiming she was too busy with work commitments.

“I don’t want to spend the night with Bronwyn. She’s a pathological liar. She can’t tell the truth to save her life. It’s like, disgusting,” Barlow said. “Also, I have a work thing. It’s like, a big deal. I think what people forget is I have a very full life. Because I keep it kinda private. And like, I’m not gonna drop names, but like, I’ll be with Ben [Affleck] and Blake [Lively].”

She added, “I’ll be with Ben Affleck and you’ll be with Bronwyn.”

As well as blaming Affleck for her absence from RHOSLC, Barlow has also brought up the A-lister in the past.

Following news of Affleck’s divorce from Jennifer Lopez in August 2024, Barlow shared a throwback photo of herself with Affleck via her Instagram Story.

“I always throw a great house party,” Barlow wrote alongside the Instagram Story, which was set to Lopez’s song “If You Had My Love.”

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024.  The former couple initially married in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, before celebrating with a larger event in Georgia on August 20, 2022.
