Bindi Irwin has shared an update from New York following a ‘crippling’ struggle with endometriosis and an emergency health crisis that saw her land up in hospital.

The conservationist, 26, who suffered a ruptured appendix and was rushed into surgery two weeks ago, took to Instagram on Sunday with some pictures of her time in the Big Apple, accompanied with a caption that assured fans that she was ‘healing’.   

‘The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain,’ she penned the post.

Steve Irwin’s famous daughter, who has battled endometriosis for over 12 years, said that the disease can be ‘crippling’ and make you feel ‘incredibly isolated’. 

‘We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health,’ she shared.

One of the images in the Instagram post showed Bindi smiling for the camera while huddled under an umbrella in the rain. 

Another saw the conservationist posing under a tree in what seems to be Central Park. 

Soon after Bindi’s emotional Instagram post, her husband shared some pictures to the social media platform praising her bravery.

‘I’ve said it many times already, but as time goes on I’m even more convinced that you are the strongest person I know,’ Chandler Powell captioned the post, which showed Bindi and her daughter Grace, four, walking hand-in-hand.  

‘Going through everything you have to get on top of your health as well as help others along the way is incredible,’ he gushed.

‘You are a warrior in every sense of the word,’ he wrote, adding: ‘Grace and I are so grateful for you and everything you do.’

In May, Bindi was rushed to hospital just hours after touching down in Las Vegas for a gala honouring her late father.

She suffered a ruptured appendix and was raced into surgery, missing the prestigious event which she was due to attend alongside brother Robert Irwin and mother Terri Irwin.

Robert told People magazine at the time that Bindi was recovering and her mother is at her bedside.

‘She’s going to be okay, but surgery – out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,’ Robert explained.

Terri also missed the event while accompanying her daughter to hospital and staying by her side through surgery.

Robert explained that Bindi had been suffering some pain in the lead up to the gala but had tried to soldier on.

‘She came to Las Vegas and was ready to put on a brave face. She said, ‘I’m just going to tough it out.’

‘But the surgeon told her, ‘Your appendix is going. It’s got to come out.”

In an Instagram post, Bindi revealed that while her appendix was removed, doctors discovered another 14 lesions from her endometriosis. These were also successfully removed.

She also had a large hernia repaired which had developed after giving birth to daughter Grace in 2021.

Additionally, Bindi has been open about her battle with endometriosis and said in 2023 she felt like a ‘completely new person’ after surgery related to the disease.
