Ella Mai Offers a Glimpse Into Her Life With Jayson Tatum and Their “Musical Baby”
Singer Ella Mai is opening up about her life with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum and their young son.
The “Boo’d Up” artist welcomed her first child with Jayson in 2024, although they have kept his name private. Ella recently shared her excitement about her son’s budding interest in music, potentially following in her footsteps.
In an exclusive chat with E! News’ Will Marfuggi at the MusiCares 2026 Person of the Year Gala on January 30, Ella explained her approach to introducing music to her son. “I try not to overwhelm him because I don’t want him to grow up thinking I forced my music on him,” she said. “But I do play a lot of different music around him.”
She continued, “Today, he was watching the movie Sing, which has become his new favorite. I love that because it makes me feel like he’s a little musical baby.”
And while we’ll have to wait and see whether her baby inherits his mama’s vocals, Ella, 31, shared that he’s well into the talking stage, even if he is just babbling for now.
As she put it, he’s “talking mostly gibberish, but thinking that he makes sense.”
