The trope of unconventional characters in military settings has captivated television audiences for decades, and it shows no signs of fading. Netflix’s newest dramedy, Boots, continues this tradition with remarkable success, achieving an impressive 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

According to Netflix, the series is set against the challenging and unpredictable backdrop of the 1990s US Marine Corps, a time when being openly gay in the military was prohibited. The story follows the journey of Cameron Cope (played by Miles Heizer), a directionless and closeted young man, and his best friend Ray McAffey (portrayed by Liam Oh), who is the son of a highly honored Marine. Together, they navigate life in a diverse group of recruits.

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re already well-acquainted with the show’s intriguing narrative and are eager to know if more episodes are on the horizon. Fear not, as we’re here to keep you updated.

Will There Be a Boots Season 2?

As it stands, Netflix has yet to officially renew Boots for a second season. However, fans can take solace in knowing that Miles Heizer, who plays Cameron, is enthusiastic about continuing the story.

Heizer expressed his willingness to return, stating, “I would do literally anything for Season 2. So, yeah, I’m hoping. I’m glad it ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger.”

“Simultaneously, it’s a very powerful ending to see this beautiful camaraderie and then this harsh reality of what they actually signed up for hits them,” Heizer said. “I think that would be very interesting to explore in Season 2, especially for Cameron, who really was just running away from his family and wanted to be with his best friend. Suddenly realizing this is a very serious decision.”

Max Parker said, “There’s so many great characters in the show that it really is an ensemble show and you don’t necessarily get to see all of the characters [in Season 1]. I think we’ve just scratched the surface of so many of them. So I think it it needs a Season 2.”

The coming-of-age series is inspired by the book The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White, and let’s just hope that book isn’t closed just yet. Fingers crossed. After all, the show ends with an announcement from President Bush saying that the U.S. is going to war with Iraq just after the boys finally finished their days in anguish at USMC’s boot camp. We have so many questions.

How to Watch Boots:

All eight episodes are available to stream on Netflix and on Netflix only. Because this is a series from Netflix, we can assume that a sequel season would also premiere on the same streaming platform.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.
